CHAPTER 1 – JUST A HUMAN
I did not want to believe it. I recognize the fact that I feel hurt even though I still doubt everything. It’s true that Roy Williams is not my mate, he is not a werewolf like me or anything supernatural. He is just a normal human that I happened to fancy and date for 2 years and maybe I have learned to love him as well. However, even if I cannot recognize love in our relationship as a couple, I had at least developed a deep trust on him. To break that trust is enough to make me feel very betrayed and disappointed. “Are you sure about this?” I asked the man on the phone. “Yes, ma’am. You can rest assure that we provide the best investigation and result in the whole city.” “I know. That’s why I hired you.” I sighed. “Anyway, thank you. I already transferred the pay.”                 I looked at the photographs once again and sighed in dismay. When I saw the woman’s face, I tried to see what she had that I don’t. From what I know of her, she is a model and she also has a good family background with wealthy parents and all but all those things cannot compare to me. I am Zoya Harper, a famous fashion designer and owner of Olympus Designs but that is only the tip of the iceberg and the only information that the public has on me. I am a werewolf with an Alpha blood running through me and my family owns one of the most successful business in the country, Harper Inc. which my twin brother, Zane, now runs as the CEO. Due to the fact that we’re werewolves and also my stubbornness to chase my own dreams with my own hands, my family had banned the media from digging our private lives. This is why no one, not even Roy, knew of my association with Harper Inc. but if he knew, I wonder if that would have kept him loyal even if it’s a materialistic reason? “Cancel my appointment with the client tonight. Tell them, I’ll give them a discount as an apology.” I said to Grace, my secretary, when she came in with more documents. “Are you going somewhere?” She asked, a bit surprised that I’d cancel an appointment with a VIP. “I have something to do.”                 I did not give in to my anxiety and fear when I arrived in front of the hotel. I headed inside and easily acquired the master key by using my connections but although it took a bit of time, it was still short enough to let the cheating couple get started in their room. I took my time walking towards the indicated room number and did not hesitate to open the door quietly. The room was not a suite or anything special, it was just the regular one with all the bed and other stuff in one room and a small bathroom and this is why the setting had let me immediately see the scene inside the room. I expected the shock from witnessing it myself but I did not expect that I’d also feel a stabbing pain in my chest. I stood there by the doorway, watching as my boyfriend and the woman in the photographs intimately moved on the bed. They are even oblivious to the fact that I was there. I looked away and instead of charging inside, I backed away and closed the door for unknown reason. When my feet had led me outside, I looked up and breathed in the cold air to help me clear my mind at the same time that I heard a shutter of a camera. Normally, I wouldn’t bother with the paparazzi but I somehow felt irritated and went to confront the paparazzi. However, when I saw that it was just a clumsy girl, I sighed away my irritation and helped her up when she stumbled back after she saw me. "I'm a newbie." The girl hesitated. "I've been blowing up my job recently and my boss is already losing patient with me. I thought I'd just give it one more chance and saw you but I don't think there's no big deal with the picture of you coming out of a hotel."                 I looked at her and self-reflected that made me laugh inside. Roy Williams is not my mate, he’s just a human that I happened to fancy and this is why this heartbreak is nothing compared to what this girl is going through right now. “Then I’ll help you.” I said and the girl looked up as I gave her the master key that I forgot to return to the front desk. “Enter this room as quietly as possible and take pictures as quickly as possible then run out. Do not stop or look back until you are sure that no one followed you. To be safe, use your scarf as a mask before going in." I stopped to think while the girl was gaping but I know she's listening. I removed my jacket. "Here, put this on. When you have successfully run away, discard it. Remember, be quick.”                 Roy is a president of a well-known company and to maintain his position, he had always been wary of his reputation and he will not hesitate to silence this girl if he found out who she is but he will never be able to touch her once the pictures are out. This is why disguise and escape is crucial for this girl because even though I’m using her for revenge, I don’t want to have her getting hurt during the process. The girl immediately snapped back to reality and expressed her gratitude by bowing before running inside the hotel. I looked up once more at the dark sky and somehow wished that I could see the stars. I looked at the time and decided to go back to the office to finish some work.                 I stayed in the office all night, burying myself on the mountain of papers that decorated my desk and when I snapped out of my work mode, I saw that it was already morning and the sun will come out in an hour or so. I got up to make myself a cup of coffee and when I returned to my desk, I remembered and checked the gossip news on my phone. I smiled at what I saw before I went back to work.
