"Meghna.. Ermm.. I know this is not fair to do this to you. But , I have to go somewhere now. I really have to.", he gasped; uttering all those words flustering in disgust; making her stand shut.
Meghna stood frozen, without her much anticipated coffee meeting her slushy lips.
There weren't words coming out, from her mouth. It was absolutely the fifth hour of their wedding life, and after all was she rightful to expect to explain the stuff, from Amey? It was an arranged marriage. Both of them do not know much about each other. They didn't even go for dates before their wedding.
"Meghna!", he gasped hesitantly, jerking her out of her pensiveness. She balked, and straightened herself and let her gaze meet Amey's. His eyes were struggling to run out of the place. She was able to see those worries swimming across his orbs. She could clearly see it.
"I have to go.", Only the air that hummed out of his mouth, that seemed to echo in a low-lying intonation. She was now feeling grateful for being ask for. She knew that he had a zero hour, at the moment. She nodded her head slowly, firmly and then managed to give an utterance,"You don't have to ask for, Amey." Those words were from her heart. Being married for a day, what he did was a little unexpected and something that made her feel okay. Meghna, now felt pity for Amey. She do not know what the actual situation is, but definitely she knew that it wasn't any ordinary one. The cool and composed Amey was now agitated. Hurt was set forth, all over his face making his temples crease.
Meghna hovered her hands to hold his hands. That was the first time ever, she was going to initiate to hold his hand. She gave him an assuring squeeze, as she muttered,"You sure you can drive now? You seem to be nervous!", she put forth.
Amey, leant forward and gave a quick, light peck on her temples. That was an unexpected shot. Totally, unexpected. Meghna's eyes had already gone wide compassing out in abruptness.
"I can manage. I am taking the key. You sleep. Don't wait for me. ", she only heard his disturbed voice from afar; as she disbursed to win back herself from the surprise peck. She had to turn around, to make her eyes chance upon, Amey; who was putting his shoes on; and grabbing the car keys.
As the shoes fit, his gigantic soles; he strode forward to the door.
"I am leaving !", his affright voice fell in, as he had gone out already; passing the door. Meghna stood; watching him climb into the car; drive away. She let out a sigh, as she came back to the living room. She slumped down at the couch; and sloped back.
The enervation due to the rituals and stuff, that they'd to undergo that day; had already made her weep in weariness. It's been three hours since Amey left. There were no signs of he, coming back any sooner. After all, he had insisted her not to wait. Yet, she did. It wasn't that easy to stifle the yawns that were flying open, once in every two minutes. On deciding to go on friendly terms with the sleepiness that was haunting her, she laid down her willowy body; there at the couch. And within she could think of moving out to the bed; she had already gone into a peaceful slumber and was in the middle of a heavenly dream.
After two more hours, Amey rode back home. He opened the door as slowly as possible, without making much noise and walked in stealthily. Only to see his wife lying, curled up in the couch; the distress on his face vanished off. Meghna was sleeping on the couch, with her legs furled up, and her elbows bent and kept closer to her bosom. She wasn't smiling while sleeping. Amey, dropped his hands down from his hip; and laid his ass on the teapoy, opposite to the couch on which she was sleeping.
Amey's eyes sincerely gaped at her. He had to tell her, about his sudden cruise. This girl has got the rights to know about where did he go! Though, he was feeling guilty for leaving Meghna alone, at home with none; his lips were curled up in a neat smile, seeing her sleep.
An amused sigh breezed out, and he bent down to pick her up. He saved her in his arms, preciously; without much of quivers and sashayed to the bed. On posting her on one side of the bed, he did a belly flop, to the other side and pulled the duvet over them, on turning off the lamps. Without much of thinking, he decided to rest for sometime.
Sleep. That's what he wanted the most, at the juncture. It was already 4 in the early morning when he hit the bed. After a few hours, Meghna's eyes shot open slowly. As she flipped her eyes she could a load of the man beside her, lying on his stomach; with his legs scattered wide; with eyes confined tight. He looked like he was sleeping deep.
On watching Amey sleep, he looked really free from the strife, that made his face adopt a tight expression last night. Only after a few minutes of staring session, she became conscious of sleeping in the bed. After envisaging Amey, bringing her to bed in arms; she didn't think much of it. As she thought of walking to bed last night, and due to the overloaded sleepiness she couldn't and she slept there itself, in the cramped couch.
Meghna sat upright and stretched out of laziness; and jumped out of the bed to proceed with her morning duties. Next off, she climbed upstairs to scrutinize and pin down an area for her early morning yoga. The terrace was really laconic, and was bright due to the tempting sun rays; filling in. Soon, she brought up the yoga mat and started exercising. To the food that she undertakes, If it was not yoga; she should've been obese by now. Those exercises saved her curves. When she came back to the bedroom, Amey was still sleeping. She was utterly bored with no idea of what should be done. On taking her phone so that she could check for text messages, she took her seat on the chair near by the bed.
It's been two hours since she had rolled out of the bed. Amey's didn't seem to open his eyes even then. After all, she didn't know about when did he come back last night. A stomach for food, was already shouting out loud asking her to feed something. She would never ever hang on and hold out hunger for anything. Or she couldn't. To be worser, the exercise that she did that morning had already burned those extra carbohydrates and now she was hungry like she could eat an elephant.
After an hour more of hunger, She found Amey stirring on the bed. Amey's eyes zapped open on seeing Megnna sitting there opposite to him.
"Morning!", Amey's raspy voice fell in. That guy's lazy voice sounded sexy as a hell. Even in the middle of hunger and the chaos inside her stomach, she could find herself adoring his sexy voice. On pulling back herself from the inviting tone, her pouty face lit up a little.
"Morning, Amey!", she sounded plain. She was now misled. Her abdomen was literally screeching asking her to put something to her mouth. She was married only for a day, and her husband had just opened his eyes from a deep sleep; she wanted food right now but she doesn't know how to cook. Can anybody's day grow any worser?
"Are you okay?", Amey's eyebrows had already gone narrowed; finding the sullen look on Meghna's face.
"Ermm.. Yeah. I am!", She managed to leave out a reply. Yet, her face was sourpussed.
Amey's brows were still knit; he sat upright and intertwined his fingers; booted up his hands up above his head to stretch. Once, he jumped off the bed and sauntered to the restroom; Meghna became more gloomy. She was hungry and she couldn't withstand it anymore. She decided to blurt it out to him, once he steps out of the lavatory.
When Amey came out, Meghna stood up from the beanbag and looked at Amey, earnestly.
"Amey!", her crabby tone which Amey hadn't heard so far, stole all of his attention at the moment. He stopped and eddied around to listen to her.
"I am hungry, Amey!", her lips went down, in embarrassment thinking that an initial real conversation with her husband is about making food for her.
"Huh?"
"I said, I am hungry!", she said pouting again.
Amey's lips freed out a chuckle, hearing her pouting innocently.
"Come. We'll whip off something for you.", he said, as he strode into the kitchen. Meghna followed him with a face like a kid, who has found her sack of candies.
Being in a newfangled apartment, they still didn't have any real groceries; to cook something big. But thank god, they had a bread packet. Soon, Amey asked Meghna to look over the milk that was already heated to bubbles. And he, himself was standing near the toaster making the bread slices go brown, with the heat. In some time, when they'd finished brewing coffee for two; Meghna was asked to sit in the dining table. Soon, she started to gobble up the toasts that he'd done.
Amey, grabbed the opposite chair and sat watching her eat her food.
"I didn't know we have bread loaves! Otherwise I would've toasted and eaten long before!", Meghna voiced taking a clean bite on the toast.
"I think I just over slept!", Amey said rubbing his eyes; and stifling a yawn. He was still feeling sleepy. Nevertheless to say, he hadn't slept since a week due to the wedding qualms. And the five hours of sleep, that he had that morning wasn't enough for him to carry on with his daily duties.
"You didn't. See, you're still yawning!",She said, and he chuckled softly. Its been forty minutes since he had waken up. Yet, Meghna didn't seem to open her mouth about where had he gone. And now,he was in a bound to ask her out. The fire in his belly was eating him up.
"Meghna?", he called softly, as he place his coffee mug down at the table.
"Your coffee tastes so good, Amey!",her lips moved and left out those words helplessly; as she took in a sip of the coffee.
Amey, laughed amusedly; and thanked her. She smiled back.
"Meghna! Don't you want to know about where did I go last night?", he asked breezily, looking at her eyes, straight. The gaze was honest and artless.
Meghna's face went on up and up, right away. Her features had gone serious, already. On gulping off a swig of coffee, she looked faithfully and lipped,"Only If you'd wish to!"
Amey's mouth shot open in amazement by the real self-controlled, philosophical answer that slipped out her mouth.
"Someone is trying to be a cool wife!" Amey chuckled.
"You said that. I am trying to be..", She completed. Amey took in a large amount of breath and let it all out in a huge sigh, that could almost fan, Meghna's face even at a distance of a few meters.
"Meghna.. Last night.. I .. Ermm..", Amey scowled. That was the first time for Meghna to witness his scowl. It wasn't appealing at all. She found it painful somewhere in her heart.
"That.. That was..", he flustered again, looking at his fingers being antsy. Meghna wanted to lighten his mood first. Before hearing the truth from him.
"Amey! Wait. Let me guess where you'd have gone!", Meghna stated, as she added,"To meet your ex-girlfriend ?", Her eyes balls went widening, on voicing this out. The scowl on Amey's was now pinched hit for a chuckle.
The chuckle grew and punctured as a guffaw.
"No, Meghna!", he paused and looked at her in all sincerity, with a tint of playfulness. He then resumed,"I've had no girlfriends!"
"What?! No girlfriends, till date? You must be kidding!", Meghna shook her head in amusement and disbelief.
"No!", That was a big no, from Amey to make her believe.
"You haven't asked any one out?", she asked. Her butterball eyes had gone broad.
Amey, nodded his head in negative. His eyes were still radiating a mischievous glint.
"No one have asked you out?", she shouted in amazement.
"They have had! I haven't gone out with anyone.", he shook his head.
"You can't bamboozle me! You were basically the heartthrob of our school. And you've never gone out with anyone?", she asked again. She couldn't believe her luck. This hot and handsome husband of her'd had not dated anyone till date!
"No!", he said , still hauling the same kind of devilish glint.
"So, it is not your ex-girlfriend!"
He nodded his head again.
"That's..",Within he could complete his sentence; his phone buzzed and his face went down all again, with a stupid scowl occupying his majestic face. Meghna straightened herself, and decided to study his face expressions, steadily!
What his face hauled wasn't a good gesture!
