Damian “How’s your little one doing?” Thane asks from behind his desk. I brought River to Thane’s office because we couldn’t keep postponing this meeting. While Thane had generously given us a few days with Daniel, the urgency of his summons was clear. I remind myself that listening to him today is the least we owe him. “He’s doing brilliantly,” I answer, as a smile graces my lips. “Tonya said that we take him home tomorrow.” “That’s amazing.” Lyric smiles. “I’m so happy for you.” “Thank you.” River giggles, making me smile. My mate has been so happy today, and it's a relief. This morning, after checking on Daniel and learning we could finally bring him home, River has been joyful, almost light.
