Ezra~

She was the most beautiful woman in the room, her simple elegance, but also beauty out of this world. She exudes beauty and grace without even trying.

As she walked into the dining hall, I watched Adir take Maikiah’s hand and lead her away. He was trying to block her from the men who were gawking at her. Maikiah has always been a little beauty she looks just like her mother with her father’s nose. But it wasn’t Maikiah catching my eye, she honestly never has. Eislyn, however when she came in the room, she was all I could see. The determination in her eyes, the confidence in her posture, I felt a pang of jealousy, watching Adir walk off with his mate. Wishing I could get up and grab Eislyn and claim her in front of the whole room.

I watched her the whole night as she laughed and engaged with those around her. She looked at me one time when she walked in. It must have been her getting her fix because it was like I didn’t even exist the rest of the night. The whole time she joked and had interesting conversations with an older Alpha about his plans for retirement once his son finishes college.

She talked to, his Luna about the latest fairy fashions. About their rare stones and jewels. She even laughed at the other Alpha's flirtatious jokes as she redirected the conversation to the progress of his new pack house. Good girl, but I wanted to rip his head off.

Nothing, not a single glance in my direction. Is this the dog house because man it's cold. I’ve never wanted a woman’s attention so bad in my life. That being said I also never wanted a woman to leave me alone so badly either. But thanks to Tonya I’ve reached new heights on my annoyance meter.

Tonya who was sitting across from me, next to Ansel my head warrior because I made him switch with me. Somehow I was seated next to her again, but that’s not going to happen. Tonya is very handsy and I can't afford any more issues with my mate. The whole night she tried to stir the conversation into talking about us or trying to get me to complement her new dress. She claimed she bought it for me because it was red, which is my favorite color. The thing was short with huge crystals across the front with matching gloves. Trying too hard was all I could think about her outfit. Sure maybe a week ago would have been delighted with how short it was for easy access. I probably would’ve even said she looked beautiful to appease her but honestly this dress was hideous.

I wanted so badly to make Eislyn talk to me. Even, if I had to make a fool of myself, anything to get her attention. As I sat there I glanced over, I saw Adir looking at me with an apologetic gaze in his eyes and it took me back to the balcony.

~Flashback~

She just walked away. I took a step forward but Adir stepped in my way. A low growl came from my chest. Neither, Roman nor I was pleased with him interfering with our bond. I have to keep a cool head though, because Eislyn loves her brother.

“Move man I need to talk to her”. I said

“ Ez… Ezra, he said trying to stay composed. I know my sister needs time, she doesn’t want to do or say the wrong thing. Maikiah will stay with her. Please just relax. He said to me.

“ Would you relax if I was to keep you from Maikiah?” I asked him arrogantly.

“ No, I wouldn’t… I started to growl for his interference anyway knowing he’d be upset. BUT…but I’d respect it if it was best for my future bond. I know your wolf is screaming at you to rip my head off and be with her”.

I arched an eyebrow knowingly. “But we must be in control that’s what makes you a human”. I know our Alpha instincts call us to be more animal an act, but this is a moment for thinking”.

I relaxed a bit, but then instantly tensed up hearing her voice and realizing Tonya was still out here. “Maybe she realized she can’t compete with me. I mean did you see her hair”. Both Adir and I growled loudly, she jumped I guess she realized she spoke those words aloud.

Frederick grabbed her shoulders and pulled her towards the door leading back into the castle. “ I think that’s more than enough out of you Tonya”. Closing the door behind him, it was just me, Adir, and Casey. Talk about awkward but I wanted to take this time to figure out his issue.

“You,” I said pointing to him with hatred in my voice and death in my stride.

“Whoa… Whoa,” Adir said putting himself between me and Casey with his hands up.

He just looked at me and chuckled. “What the F**k is so funny”? You think the drama you bought out here is a joke, I ought to have your head.

“ Just wondering what you have, that the goddess chose you, instead of me to be Lenny’s mate”. The F**K is he serious? “ Probably a bigger D**K,” I said to antagonize him.

“Is that so..?” he started and was quickly cut off by his Alpha.

“ Guys let’s chill, no need to measure d**k size, I’m sure you are both goddess-blessed. He said with a bit of snicker. I still find nothing funny.

“What is your deal with Eislyn? What did you date or something? Because whatever it is, you need to drop that s**t ASAP before I have to intervene. It's also one-sided. She hasn’t even looked in your direction since we met. And all you do is stare at her, I don’t like it”. I grind out.

“Don’t worry about what I do, with Lenny, 'cause at this rate by tomorrow, you won’t even be mates anymore. My eyebrows shot up is he about to say what I think he is? “ I smell a rejection in your future”. He said with a devious smile.

I growled so loudly as I went to lunge for him, he stepped back and smirked while Adir held me back with all his might. “Casey make yourself scarce. NOW! He shouted”. That’s fine Alpha I need a nap anyway”.

He swiftly walked away I could feel Roman trying his hardest to come forward. “ Please Ezra, breathe relax”.

“I think you better start thinking of a Beta replacement because that mutt Casey has a death wish”.

“I hope not, because you're both my brothers and I would be hurt, If you killed him”.

“Brother”? I asked quizzically.

“ Yeah, man no matter what Casey. I growled at the sound of his name. “ No matter what he said, you are my sister's Mate and I couldn’t ask for a better brother”.

“ Oh is that so even though I hit women”. I responded. I was deeply offended by that accusation.

“ I’m sorry. He said looking down and then back at me, his eyes were full of regret. “ I should have made sure there was some merit behind that accusation before I brought it to you, and for that, I truly apologize. I just got scared and went into protection mode”.

“ I get it man, it doesn’t mean I’m not offended 'cause I am. It's just another reason to rip your Beta to shreds. But I’m happy that Eislyn has had such a fierce protector her whole life”.

He laughed a very loud and boisterous laugh. As he slapped his hand down on my shoulder. We headed back inside. “ Man, you have no idea”.

I let out a confused chuckle. He just looked and laughed again. “ Don’t worry about it man, just know as protective as I am, Lenny has never needed it”.

(End Flashback)

The dinner finally ended and I rushed up to try and go speak to Eislyn needing to apologize. But I looked around and she was gone.

As I headed to the hall, an Alpha I’ve never really noticed before today, stopped me saying “.

“Alpha Ezra Akana”?

“Yes, can I help you”?

“ You’re Edmonds boy right? I instantly felt Roman’s hackles go up. Sorry, I knew your father back in the day when I first started attending these things when he was your uncle's Beta”.

Wait, what my dad was Uncle Eugene’s Beta?

“ You don’t look like him. He stated Thank the Goddess for small miracles. But you have this air about you that is distinctly him you know.”

“Um, Sorry, Alpha… “Alpha Malik of Desert Moon Pack.” He said while reaching his hand out. I’m sorry to cut story time short but I have some business to attend to”. I said gave him a curt nod and walked off.

I’m already having a S**t day I be dammed if I sit through conversations about Daddy dearest.
