Mated to my Stepsister?

1008 Words
KLAUS: It's been four days now and Greta has refused to speak to me. And when she does speak, it's always insults being hurled at me. I've been called all sorts of names just because I have refused for her to leave. But how can she understand when she doesn't feel the bond? How can she understand when she doesn't even know she is a Werewolf just like me? I knew from the moment she spilled the drink on my shirt that she was from my kind. Humans are puny cowards and if it had been one of the other waitresses who had spilled drink on me, I was as sure as hell that they were going to fall to their knees, lap up the drink from the floor and even my shoes. But she hadn't. I remembered the defiance that creeped into her hazel eyes when I asked her to fall to her knees. And she didn't. She didn't submit to me and when Aries woke up and sensed her presence, he nearly ripped out of my body, yelling the word: Mate! Mate! Of course, I had channeled my desire wrongly by fine tuning it into anger and that was because she didn't recognise me or the bond I felt towards her. And when she left without begging, I knew I had to follow her. I knew I had to find her and make her mine at once, her fiancé be damned. Klaus feared no man and I didn't care for his feelings. He had taken what was mine. I'd been able to lure her into the Palace. That was a start. A smile creeps up my lips as I place my pen on the file containing the papers I am to sign. It is going to be sent to the temple tonight ahead of our marriage rites and the Royal wedding in two days' time. Soon enough, she is going to see that I care for her and soften up to me. She is going to understand that we shared an unbreakable bond. The sound of the door creaking open permeates into my ears and I look up to see my mother standing by the door, a frown on her face. A file is slapped on my desk, right before me. My mother looks at me in displeasure. "When were you going to tell me?" She snaps angrily. I frown. "Tell you what?" "That all of this is a lie! That lady isn't your fiancée. In fact, you don't know who she is. She has a fiancé and will soon be getting married. What have you done, Klaus?" Panic washes through me and I push to my feet. "Did she tell you this?" My mother bursts into laughter. "She didn't. I knew I recognised that surname. Van Buren. Do you even know who she is, Klaus?!" "You tell me." I reply in a dead tone. Shaking her head, she pushes the file towards me. "Why don't you go through it yourself? See the mess you have put yourself into!" I push it back to her. "I am not reading any of that if you aren't going to tell me what exactly is wrong. I know you don't like her but that doesn't matter to me." "I never hated her. I just disliked her because I knew she was a liar! But knowing who she is now, I despise her and I want her out of the Palace immediately!" "Why haven't you exactly told me what's wrong, mother?! Why do you want her out of here?!" I am raising my voice now and honestly, I don't care if it is disrespectful to the Dowager Queen. "Twenty one years ago, your father became a shadow of himself after I caught him cheating on me once and refused for him to touch me," She draws close, her eyes brimming with unshed tears. "So he started bringing courtesans into the Palace and Bertha Van Buren was one of the women!" "I'm really sorry, mother," I mutter. "But that is my father's mistake and not mine. Surely, her daughter isn't taking the downfall for what her mother was paid for?" "Of course, she will," My mother snarls, her eyes turning blue. My eyes lower to her sharp claws. She is livid. "Your father found favor in her sight and slept with her all the time. I would hear her moans and his grunts in his chambers! It kept me awake all night and that's not even the worst part of it. She got pregnant, Klaus! Your father impregnated her!" I blink a few times, trying to digest this information and when I reply, my voice is a shadow of itself. "So...does that mean—" "Oh, son," She laughs. "Whatever you're thinking is right. She is your step sister. Greta Van Buren is your step sister!" "No." I shake my head, walking around my desk and making my way to the door. "You are lying, mother! You're making this up because you don't want me getting married to her!" Tears roll down her cheek as she follows after me. "I am telling the truth, son. She must leave. It is forbidden to get married to your sister. She is an outcast! She was banished a long time ago along with her mother. Let her go!" I can't. I can't possibly let my mate go! How is it possible that I am mated to my stepsister? Surely, the moon goddess wouldn't allow that to happen. It has to be a lie. Of course, I have to let her go, even if I know I must find out the real truth. Greta is happy when I tell her she'd be leaving. I apologize to her for inconveniencing her even if I don't want to do it, even if all I want to do is pull her into a bone crushing hug and make her mine. I watch her leave through my chambers with sorrow in my heart. But it isn't over. Not yet.
