Chapter 1: The Prince Returns
Rain covered Blackwood City as a black luxury car stopped outside the Grand Imperial Hotel.
A tall man stepped out, wearing a black suit and a cold expression. His dark eyes studied the building where his greatest enemy was celebrating his victory.
Five years ago, Adrian Blackwood had lost everything. His father was murdered, his family disappeared, and his powerful mafia empire was stolen by Victor Moretti.
Everyone believed Adrian was dead.
But tonight, the Mafia Prince had returned.
Adrian entered the hotel, ignoring the curious looks of the guests. Nobody recognized him. The innocent young man who once trusted everyone had disappeared. Five years of pain had turned him into someone even his enemies would fear.
He walked toward the private elevator.
Two guards blocked his way.
“This floor is reserved for invited guests,” one warned.
Adrian looked at him calmly. “Tell Victor Moretti that his past has come to visit.”
The guard laughed. “You think you can threaten Mr. Moretti?”
Before the man could reach for his weapon, Adrian struck him and pushed the second guard against the wall. Within seconds, both men were on the floor.
Adrian adjusted his suit and entered the elevator.
He had wasted five years hiding.
He would waste no more time.
On the top floor, Victor Moretti sat at a long table surrounded by businessmen and armed guards. He was celebrating another successful deal when the doors opened.
Adrian walked inside.
Victor's smile disappeared.
For several seconds, he couldn't speak.
“Adrian Blackwood?” he finally whispered. “That's impossible. You're dead.”
Adrian pulled out a chair and sat opposite him.
“Then you should have no reason to be afraid.”
Victor stood angrily. “Your family is gone. Your empire belongs to me. You have nothing!”
Adrian placed a black envelope on the table. Inside were documents showing Victor's stolen properties, hidden accounts, and connections to the attack that destroyed the Blackwood family.
Victor's face changed as he examined them.
“Where did you get these?”
“You made one mistake,” Adrian replied. “You believed you had erased every trace.”
Victor signaled to his guards, but none moved. The name Blackwood still carried enough fear to make even loyal men hesitate.
Adrian leaned forward.
“You have five days to return everything you stole from my family.”
“And if I refuse?”
Adrian smiled coldly.
“Then you'll discover why everyone once called me the Mafia Prince.”
He stood and headed toward the door.
A woman's voice stopped him.
“Adrian?”
He froze.
Slowly, he turned around.
A beautiful woman in a dark-blue dress stood near the window. Her eyes widened, and her lips trembled.
Isabella Hart.
The woman he had once loved.
The woman who had disappeared on the night his family was destroyed.
“You're alive,” she whispered.
“So are you,” Adrian replied.
Isabella moved toward him. “I thought you were dead.”
“You thought a lot of things.”
Pain crossed her face. “Adrian, please. You don't understand what happened that night.”
“Then explain it.”
She glanced nervously at Victor.
“Not here.”
Adrian's eyes hardened. “You had five years to explain.”
He walked away, leaving her standing in silence.
But as he entered the elevator, one question followed him.
Had Isabella betrayed him, or had she been trying to protect him?
An hour later, Adrian arrived at a private apartment overlooking the city. Marcus Hale, his father's former adviser, was waiting inside.
“Welcome home,” Marcus said.
Adrian studied him before sitting down. “Tell me everything.”
Marcus opened a folder.
“Victor controls most of your family's businesses. He has bought officials, hired your father's former men, and strengthened his security. But something strange is happening. Money has been disappearing from his accounts.”
“Find out who's taking it.”
“Already working on it. There's something else, too. We never found Elena's body.”
Adrian's expression changed.
Elena was his younger sister. On the night of the attack, he had promised to protect her. He had searched for her for years, but every lead had failed.
“You think she's alive?”
“I don't know,” Marcus answered. “But there is still a chance.”
Adrian looked at the family photograph on the table.
“Then we'll find her.”
Marcus hesitated before speaking again.
“And Isabella has been meeting Victor privately for months.”
Adrian's fingers tightened around the photograph.
“Find out why. Don't approach her. I want the truth.”
Marcus nodded and left.
Alone, Adrian stared at the smiling faces in the photograph. For one brief moment, he remembered the life he had before betrayal took everything from him.
Then his phone rang.
An unknown number.
“Hello?”
A frightened woman's voice answered.
“Adrian?”
His heart stopped.
“Elena?”
“Listen carefully,” she whispered. “You shouldn't have returned.”
“Where are you? I've searched everywhere for you!”
“I can't tell you. They might be listening.”
“Who is listening?”
“Someone betrayed our family. Someone you trust.”
Adrian stood immediately. “Tell me who.”
“I don't know who to trust anymore. Be careful of Marcus. Be careful of Isabella. And you must find Father's second safe. There's something inside it that Victor must never get.”
“Where is the safe?”
Before she could answer, Adrian heard a noise on her end.
“Elena?”
Her voice became urgent.
“Don't trust anyone, brother. Please.”
The call ended.
Adrian stared at his phone, his mind racing. Marcus had stood beside him for years. Isabella had once been the person he loved most. Could either of them truly be involved?
A message appeared on his screen.
WELCOME BACK, PRINCE. YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED DEAD.
Adrian slowly raised his eyes toward the dark city outside.
Someone knew he had returned.
Someone knew about Elena.
And someone was watching him.
He put the phone in his pocket and picked up his coat.
Five years ago, his enemies had taken his family, his name, and his empire.
Now he would take everything back.
But before he could claim his throne, he would uncover the traitor hiding among the people closest to him.
Adrian Blackwood was no longer the boy who trusted easily.
He was the Mafia Prince.
And his war had only just begun.
