Forever your girl
Prologue
The first Rays of sunshine entered through the kitchen window. They gave more shine to Arlene's golden hair.
She stirred her cereals, while her father watched her.
- What happens to you, daughter? You've been sad for a few days and it worries me.
Arlene looked up and smiled at her father.
-I am OK, don't worry, daddy! - the teenager sighed- I just feel worried about my friend Kassidy. She has broken up with Colby, and I see her badly. Suffer, and... And she's not the same. You know her, dad.
-Well, she is so young. Colby is in age to go from flower to flower. I never saw him a serious boy. But he's just a kid, like you and Kassidy. Now you are of age to learn, study and have fun – Morgan smiled at his daughter, as he hurries to his coffee.
- The bad thing is that Colby claims to be in love with me- Arlene said with acid tone.
- Do you love him? - Morgan wanted to know.
- Well, a year ago I liked it a lot. But then He asked her to go out. They were dating.
And I got used to seeing them together. I stop liking him. Now I see him as a friend. I like Mike, Kassidy's brother.
-Yeah, Michael is a good kid. I think You will always choose the right thing. - Morgan smiled.
- You have taught me the right values, I am fortunate to be your daughter.
- My little girl, I wanted to tell you about your mother. Er... Next week you're going to spend the weekend with Keith and your mother. I want you to get along with your mother and your little brother.
Arlene put on a face of annoyance. She didn't like the idea of seeing her mother. She felt that her mother was the blameful for her parents's divorce.
- I don't want to hear reproaches or complaints. - Morgan looked at her harshly, the man knew of the confrontation between the two women.
- OK. I will be a good girl.
- Understand that what your mother and I have decided is up to us. No one is to blame. Just her and me. Don't blame your mother. I wanted to talk to you about this a long time ago.
- Okay. - said the 16-year-old girl.
- Next Sunday you and Keith will eat together and go see the Chicago Bulls game.
- Thanks, Daddy. I love the idea. - she smiled.
- That's how I like my little one to smile. Do not forget that the smile is light. As sad as you are, no matter how difficult a situation is, smile. Complaining, it is useless.
- Yes, daddy. Like you. Your smile is light.
Morgan smiled, took his right hand to his chest, felt a slight pressure and pain in his left arm. He tried to hide his grimace of pain, by a half smile. What he wanted least was to worry her daughter. He had had enough the previous year with angina pectoris.
- Come on you're going to be late for school. - he tried to hurry her.
- But, Dad if I have enough time. Do you want to get rid of me? - she joked.
-Never!!! - the man exclaimed.
-Well, I'll listen to you. I'm going, to see how I find Kass. I'll tell you later. - and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
Arlene she picked up her books. And she began her exit. Not before without looking at her father again.
She left home with a smile, but as she walked, her face turned to worry. She felt a sudden bad feeling. As she was walking to the bus stop. She remembered how her father had suffered from angina pectoris the year before. So she turned on her steps, and ran home, Kassidy came to get her, seeing her reaction, calling her.
Kass ran after her best friend.
Arlene came home again, opened the door and entered without closing, called her father, but got no answer, she approach the kitchen and did not see
nothing.
She went up to her father's room. She hurriedly opened the door. But there was no one. Arlene hesitated something intelligible.
Kassidy's voice surprised her, as she had no idea her best friend was there She didn't understand what she could be doing there. She retraced her steps and called her friend.
Kass was in the kitchen kneeling next to Morgan fallen unconscious
- Mr. Darlington - Kassidy she called him soft.
Arlene almost screamed at the scene.
Kassidy tried to reassure her.
- You have to call an emergency, you have to call, you have to call - she repeated incessantly.
Kassidy dialed the emergency number
She asked for an ambulance.
After giving the residence data. She came back from trying to calm Arlene, who was crying next to her father's body.
Kass phoned Shirley, Arlene moms.
Arlene remembers that day that the hours in the hospital, became eternal. She barely spoke to her mother and that it was the last day of her father's life. Kassidy didn't leave her alone for a second. That and the following days were some of the saddest of her life.
