Chapter 3

Amelia's POV: "But if you like causing trouble up in hotel rooms And if you like having secret little rendezvous If you like to do the things you know that we shouldn’t do Then baby, I'm perfect Baby, I'm perfect for you And if you like midnight driving with the windows down And if you like going places we can’t even pronounce If you like to do whatever you've been dreaming about Baby, you're perfect Baby, you're perfect So let's start right now." This song is literally one of my jams. I could dance all day and all night. One Direction is my forever band. I love all of their songs. I've memorized all their songs by heart. I sang and dance along with the song. I was having so much fun, not realizing that my grandmother was standing in front of my door. "You seem happy." She said. "Grandma, you scared me." I said as I turned to her while putting my hands on my chest. "Did I?" She chuckled. "So back to my question, why are you happy?" Grandma knows if I'm acting weird then that means something good has happen. Just like what happen today. "I was able to have a good conversation with Quiel." I smiled. Grandma knows about Quiel. She is somehow supportive because she knows what kind of guy Quiel is. But she always reminds me about my limitation. If you asked me, I know my limitation. Quiel is not your typical guy. He is also a player, if you know what I mean. There are also rumors spreading that he is just using girls to get what he want. I'm not talking about s*x; let's just put it this way, he is using his charm so the girl will help him pass his entire subject. But then again, it's just rumors. What if it's not true? I'm not a perfect person so I don't need to judge anyone. I'm the type of person who still looks at the goodness of one person even though a person sees his or her bad side. "Quiel, your crush" She confirmed and I nodded. "Isn't he a bad boy?" She asked. See, just like what I’ve told you. "He is not that bad." I defended. "Whatever" She chuckled as she puts her hands up in surrender. "By the way, you need to hurry. Dinner is almost ready." She said as she went down. I was fixing my stuffs when my eyes landed on my window. There I saw him. Didn't I mention that Quiel is my neighbor? Call it whatever you want but I called it destiny. Sad part though, he doesn't know, I live across him. What a nice view. I was so busy staring when he suddenly turned to my direction. s**t! Got to hide, I quickly hid myself hoping he didn't see me. I slowly turn to check if he is still in his room. Luckily, he went down. If you are wondering why I am hiding is because I get stuttered every time I see him. I was lucky enough to have a nice conversation with him earlier but because I have nothing to say, I get nervous and stuttered. "Amelia, dinner's ready." Grandma shouted. "Coming" I yelled. Grandma and I ate our dinner in silence when my phone rang. I was about to put it in silent mode when grandma cleared her throat. "What?" I asked as I looked at her. "You know the rules." She said as she gave me the look. "No cellphones while eating." Granny hates it when people are using the phone while eating. So, she made this rule that everything we eat, we would put our phones in the basket and will only get after dinner. The phone must be in silent mode so it’s not so disturbing when we are eating. “I know I will just put it in a silent mode.” I said as I put my phone in silent mode. “It’s just Madi. I’ll text her later. By the way, I totally forgot that today is the start of the University fair.” I said as I chew my food. “Young lady, no talking while your mouth is full.” She said as she swallows her food. “Finish it first then we’ll talk.” I rolled my eyes at her but she is right. It’s called respect. I nodded at finished my food. Our favorite time together is washing the dishes. Believe me, it’s fun. As we did the dishes, I told my grandma about the university fair. We just finish doing the dishes when my mom chatted that she's online. I went to the living room and open the laptop. Mom would call every night after dinner to check up on me. "Hey mom, how are you?" I greeted. "I'm doing great. I missed you so much." She said in a teary eye. My mom is really emotional. "Where's dad?" I asked. It's funny my dad is barely part of the video call. "He is probably busy darling. Time difference." she answered. Dad works in Canada as a driver while my mom works in Paris as a waiter. Can you believe the time difference? This is one of the reasons why I don't agree for them, going abroad. But, I have no choice but to deal with it. "So, are you coming home for Christmas?" I asked with full of hope. I was really hoping that she would say yes but her reaction was different. Mom just stared at me then took a deep breathe. "I'm not so sure sweetheart. I will try again. But it’s not guaranteed.” She said. "What about dad?" I asked. "I've been trying to reach your father since last week but I still can't. I'm sorry." Mom answered. "I understand." I said as i looked down. "I got to go mom." My voice was mixed angry, sad and frustrated. "But it's Friday today. You don't -" I cut her as I don't want another explanation. "I still have lots of things to do." I said. I think she felt my anger at that very moment, so she told me that she will talk to grandma. I hand the laptop to my grandma and went straight to my room. If they don't want to see me then I don't want to see them. That’s how my night goes. I need a distraction and I just know who.
