Amelia’s POV:
“Are you done?” I asked Quiel. “Just give me a few more seconds. “ He said and nodded. We’re currently inside his room, studying. You heard me correct and don’t ask me how cause even I don’t know the answered. One minute we were at school and now were in his room.
I should commend him by the way. Quiel is so smart; he got all the answers correct. The only reason why he is failing is because he doesn’t focus at all. If you asked me, he doesn’t really need my help at all. All he needs to do is study hard.
“Done” Quiel said as he hands he his paper. Earlier at school, I told him the pointers to review and I told him to study while I make some questions for him to answer. “You got all correct.” I smiled as I hand his paper back. “Good job. You actually don’t need my help at all.” I said.
“Are you kidding me?” He asked. “You are a big help. Without your pointers to review, I would never ace the exams. Of course this is just a mini quiz. I’m not sure if the questions you gave me are part of the exam.” He said.
“But still you got an ace.” I explained. “There is a 70 percent that the questions on the quiz that I gave you will appear. So, don’t you worry about it, you actually might get a perfect score.” I said with full honesty. “There is no way that I’ll get a perfect score. You are just being nice.” Quiel smiled. “I’m just being honesty.” I corrected him as I hand him another pointers to review. “Here’s another pointers to review, you go ahead and study while I make the questions.” Quiel took the paper and started reading.
As I Quiel started reading, I couldn’t help but stare at him. I never thought that my wish have come true. I moment I saw Quiel, he automatically became my crush and I prayed every day hoping he would notice me. Before I always wait for him to pass by and that would make my day happy. I never thought I would get so close to him. I get to talk to him, I get to hang out and above all, I get to laugh with him.
People would say that you need to stay away from him while the others would like to get close to him but if you asked me, I just wanted to be friends with him. I was so busy starting at him, I didn’t notice at him was looking at me. “Is there something wrong with my face?” He asked, making me snap out of my thought. “N-nothing” I smiled and continue to write some questions.
“Kids, do you want some snacks?” His mom asked as she open the door. “Thanks mom.” Quiel smiled. “Hi Mrs. Adams” I smiled. “Hi there sweetie, do you want some pasta or some pizza?” She asked. “Pizza” Quie and I answered at the same time.
We both looked at each other and turn back to his mom. “Pizza it is.” She smiled as she close the door. “You liked pizza?” Quiel asked. “I don’t like pizza. I LOVED them.” I chuckled. “Me too, how about this one, do you prefer burgers or tacos?” Quiel asked. That’s so easy I thought to myself. “Burgers, no doubt about it,” I smiled and Quiel looked shocked. “Mine too.” He said. “Okay last one, fries of chips?”
“Definitely fries” I answered back in a duh tone. “No way, I loved fries. They are my favorite.” Quiel smiled. Who have taught we have so much in common especially foods. “How about your favorite fruit, let’s both say in the count of three.” He said with pure excitement. Quiel started counting, one he reaches three, we both said “MANGOES.” We have the same favorite fruit.
“No way” I gasped. I still can’t believe it. “Yes way.” He smiled. “Pizza, burger, fries and mangoes, I just found my perfect food trip buddy.” Our conversation was interrupted when Quiel’s mom walked into his room holding a box of pizza. “Here you go kids. Enjoy!” She said as she puts the pizza down and head downstairs. “Thanks Mom!” Quiel yelled.
“Let’s have a break first. I feel like all my brain cells were gone.” He joked and I laugh. We ate our pizza as we kept on talking about other stuffs. I never thought that Quiel know how to play every single sports. Soccer, football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, badminton, tennis, golf, you name it. He even plays archery. Heck! I’ve always wanted to play archery.
After our pizza break, we went back to our study. Quiel went back to reading while I went back to writing. Quiel got another ace on the question I gave him; He can definitely get a perfect score. Quiel’s mom made me stay for dinner. She was really nice and accommodating.
She is not the type of moms that you would see in a movie. In movies, the moms there are really scary and they can be classified as monsters especially if they are so rich and they have a one good looking son. They don’t want their only child to mingle with people that were not on their level.
For Quiel’s mom, she has a different case, when she found out that my parents were OFWs, she wanted to help them. When I told her that I live across street, she didn’t judge me instead she told me that she would help find a scholarship. Isn’t she cool? I wish my mom was like that, a mother who will always be there to support their children.
“What are you thinking about?” Quiel asked interrupting my thoughts. “Nothing” I said but he didn’t believe me. Quiel kept on looking at me with a weird face as we were walking. Quiel offered to walk me home; he actually doesn’t need to do that. I live across his street. “It is something. You were thinking so hard.” He said. “Fine” I said as I rolled my eyes at him. “I’m just thinking about your mom. She is so cool and so sweet.”
“She sometimes gets on my nerves.” Quiel chuckled. “At least you have a mom who is always there.” I pointed out. “I couldn’t recall the last time we celebrated as a complete family. Believe me, it won’t happen this year.”
Quiel gave me a sorry looked and he told me that he felt bad for me. He never thought that I would be experience all of this and still manage to get high grades. We talked for a bit before I went inside the house.
I wish I have family like his……….
