*** It took Nero about five hours in the forest before he finally managed to take down a deer and drink to his satisfaction. In the pale moonlight, he felt his wounds fading off as they healed, and it was almost as if the attack had never happened. He stared at his fingers, charred and blackened, and a fury swept through his heart. When he was done, he sat atop the tallest branch of an oak tree and watched the top of the trees swaying with the wind. He still felt weak from the ambush, and when he tried to move, there was a distinct sharp pain that stabbed at his side. “s**t!” he muttered, wincing as another bout wracked through him.
