We take Hendricks into custody just as Brandon is leaving his cell. He looks completely stunned as he realizes we have arrested his client. “What’s the meaning of this?” he demands to know just as he’s being uncuffed. I look at him calmly. “We found your client’s alibi. Turns out it died with Kathleen Nouveau,” I inform him, making him press his lips tightly together. “It’s for the best, Mr. Landry. Your client made a deal with the NOPD and he now won’t have to worry about facing a death sentence. You should be grateful, really. We did half of your work for you,” I then add. He stares at me for a moment, then frowns. “Elise, come on, you don’t know if your case is even going to stand. You have zero proof. I’m going to destroy your case in court,” he tells me, but I simply smile in respon
