-Ashes- I couldn’t see or hear anything clearly. Had I been dreaming, or was this reality? I was uncertain of where I was or when. All I knew was that I needed to defend myself, and whatever blurry shape was in front of me, I instinctively knew I had to eliminate. The skin felt soft and warm under my hand, but I squeezed tighter and tighter. “Ashes…” At first, I wasn’t sure if I had heard anything, but then the voice spoke again, “Ashes…” It struck me deep in my heart. I wasn’t sure if it was pain or something else, but I felt a longing rather than fear. Whoever was speaking to me, I longed for them… I couldn’t understand it, and it only confused me more, which made me tighten my grip even further. The voice grew quieter as my eyes slowly began to focus, and the world became less blur
