A week had passed. Samuel was mostly recovered, and my other brothers were back on their feet, each having received their own rooms. I had mostly stayed with Ashes, barely speaking to my brothers.
I spent some time with Mayla and Sivanna, who seemed thrilled about living here. Ladon was often nowhere to be found, but I wasn’t worried. That boy had survived more than most, and here he was safe. I knew he just needed a little time to himself.
Libelle and Kayda were with me most of the time. They still went to eat with the others and enjoyed walking around, taking in the fresh air and the peace we had found here, but I couldn’t bring myself to leave Ashes’s side.
