Chapter 1:Poisoned Blood
Maya caught Chloe by the collar of her designer blazer, slamming her hard against the metal lockers before she could take another step down the hall. The impact echoed like a gunshot, but neither girl cared.
"I'm only going to say this once, Chloe," Maya hissed, her fingers twisting deeper into the fabric, pinning her best friend against the cold steel. Her eyes were dark, hollow, and utterly devoid of mercy. "Stay away from Richard. Stay out of his office, stay off his desk, and stop taking his money. If you touch my father again, I will personally ruin every single thing you care about."
Chloe didn't flinch. She didn't scream, and she certainly didn't look afraid. Instead, a slow, sickening smirk spread across her wet, crimson-painted lips. She adjusted to the weight pressing against her chest, leaning right into Maya’s space until their noses almost touched.
"You're a little late for warnings, Maya," Chloe purred, her voice dripping with venomous mockery. "The lease on my new apartment was signed this morning. On your father's executive desk. While I was sitting on his lap."
Maya’s jaw tightened, every muscle in her face pulling taut as a surge of violent rage boiled through her blood. "He’s using you, you stupid b***h. You’re a cheap, dirty thrill behind a locked door. A transaction for tuition receipts. The second you become inconvenient to him, he’ll throw you into the street with nothing."
"Is that what you tell yourself to sleep at night?" Chloe laughed—a sharp, cruel sound that cut straight through the tension. She reached up and wrapped her manicured fingers around Maya’s wrists, not to push her away, but to hold her close. "You're furious because I get everything I want from him. The luxury allowance, the clothes, the attention. Everything you wish you had from your own dad."
"Shut your mouth," Maya spat, her chest heaving as her knuckles turned white against Chloe's collar.
"Why should I?" Chloe leaned in closer, her eyes flashing with pure, shameless deception. "You think you're in control here? You think you own this school just because your family's name is on the building? You don't own Richard. You don't own anyone. Every time he touches me, every time he pays my bills, he talks about how worthless you are. You’re just a cold, broken embarrassment of a daughter to him."
The insult barely cleared Chloe’s lips before Maya snapped.
Maya pulled back her right hand and cracked her open palm straight across Chloe’s face with vicious, violent force.
SNAP.
The sound cracked through the empty air. The sheer weight of the blow knocked Chloe’s head violently to the side, her manicured hand flying to her cheek as a bright, inflamed red mark bloomed across her pale skin. She stumbled against the lockers, her breath catching sharply in her throat.
For two seconds, total silence hung between them.
Then, slowly, Chloe turned her face back. There were no tears in her eyes. No shock, no regret, no shame. Instead, her twisted smirk returned, wider and more sinister than before, her blood boiling with dark satisfaction at having pushed Maya past her breaking point.
"Is that all you've got, Maya?" Chloe hissed, stepping right back into Maya's face, her chest rising and falling wildly. "Hit me again! Go on, do it! It doesn't change a single thing! You think you hurt me? You think Richard belongs to you?"
"I said shut up!" Maya growled, her hands curling into tight, trembling fists at her sides, every instinct screaming at her to tear Chloe apart right there on the floor.
"No, I won't shut up!" Chloe snarled back, her voice dropping into a harsh, poisonous whisper as she gripped the front of Maya’s school blazer, tugging her down until they were eye-to-eye. "You want to know the real truth, Maya? You think I'm your only problem? You think I'm the only one taking from your family?"
Maya tried to shove her back, but Chloe held on with desperate, maniacal strength, her laughter ringing out cold and hollow.
"Your father doesn't care about you! He doesn't love you, and he never will!" Chloe spat directly into Maya's face, her eyes wide with unhinged malice. "In fact, your father is a beast after my body—he can't think straight, he craves every inch of me, and he touches me with more raw, disgusting passion than he could ever muster for a useless, pathetic daughter like you!"
Right at that exact second, the shrill, deafening scream of the school bell shattered the silence, ringing violently overhead to signal the start of class, leaving Maya frozen in absolute horror as Chloe’s words echoed in her ears.
