Chapter 1
~Her body was cold as she laid on the snow. The snow was painted with red. Thankful for the cold, everything was numb. The wolf beside her was breathing well. She had petted the wolf until it stopped whining. The wolf was still breathing and would let a whine out here and there. She turned onto her back slowly. She watched the snow fall. Her eyes began to blur. She sighed and closed her eyes. Before everything went black, she could hear thuds and voices.~                 Commander Aerick: What the? ~He dismounted his horse and walked over. He kneeled next to a female wearing the familiar clothes of the Wellingtons family.~ These are the guards from that family. ~He stood and turned. He turned his attention to the King. He watched the King stand over the woman who had earlier attempted to kill him. He watched two of his men pick the wolf up and carry it over to get it healed.~                 General Liara: ~She stood slightly behind the King.~ So what do you want to do? She still lives. ~She kneels and turns the girls face. She would rather kill her, but the King ordered to capture the girl alive. She couldn’t fathom why.~                 King Drake: Take her back to the castle. Treat the wounds. ~He turned and walked to the horse.~                 Commander Aerick: He has spoken ~He kneeled and picked the girl up. Liara gave a huff and turned heading to the horses.~                 ~They mounted their horses and made their way back to the castle. When they reached the King had ordered them to take the female to his room after the healer treated her. Confusion was in the air. Aerick and Liara looked at each other. They waited till the healer was done and took the woman to the King’s room.~                 Liara: What are you thinking? That woman tried to kill you. ~She crossed her arms. She and Aerick stood by the door arguing with their King.~                 Aerick: I don’t know what you’re thinking, but the girl is dangerous what makes you think she won’t try again.                 Drake: You see the scars on her back. She won’t try again. Go on now and Aerick, Liara bring the family in. ~He turned heading into the room.~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~                 ~She awoke in a cold sweat. She sat up and winced grabbing her side. She looked around and found herself in an unknown room. She threw the blanket off and stepped out of the bed. Only to have her leg give out. She landed hard on her side. She winced again and reached down feeling her right leg. There was a bandage wrapped around her right thigh. The memories slowly came back to her. The family wanted her dead. She tried pushing off with her left arm. A sharp pain shot through her arm and into her chest. She rolled onto her back and grabbed her left shoulder. Another bandage covered around her shoulder. The arrow missed her heart.~                 ~She looked around. She rolled onto her uninjured side and manage to sit. She used the bed to crawl to her feet. She needed clothes and a way out. She turned there was a chair next to her. It had a shirt and pair of pants on it. She hesitated to take the clothes. But there was nothing else as far as she could see. She winced in pain as she dressed. She looked around the room it was dark.~                 ~She felt around and managed to find a wall. She used the wall as support and she slowly made her way to a door. She opened it slowly and carefully listened. She heard no footsteps or any other noises. She took a deep breath and entered the hallway. It must be late; she couldn’t tell how late. She barely made it ten steps before she froze. Something wasn’t right, she took two staggering steps backwards when she felt a wind pass her. She fell to the ground landing on her back.~                 Liara: Damn I missed. ~She turned.~ I don’t get why the King wants you alive but I guarantee, you won’t make another attempt. ~She watched the woman stumble to her feet.~ I won’t miss this time.                 ~She backed away quickly. She knew this woman was serious about killing her. The woman moved fast. She didn’t have time to react. Then she felt an arm wrap around her uninjured shoulder and pull her back. She landed against something firm. An arm wrapped around her waist and held her tight. The woman froze in her tracks and quickly knelt down.~                 Liara: King Drake ~She didn’t dare look up. She could already feel the heated gaze. He was angry beyond angry. She kept her head down and placed the blade on the ground. She waited.~                 Drake: I thought I gave the order that she was not to be harmed. ~His voice was low and calm.~                 Liara: Yes, my king you did. I just she left the room I thought she was going to make another attempt. ~Her voice shook. She’s never seen Drake this angry before.~                 Drake; Aerick take Liara away. Liara you are too stay away from her. DO you understand? ~He watched Liara nod.~                 Aerick: As you wish. ~He had watched the whole thing unfold. He was just as surprised as Liara. He never saw Drake this angry at least not in a long time. He glanced to the woman in his Kings arm. She completely froze and hadn’t dare look up. She kept her eyes trained to the ground. He couldn’t tell if it was fear or relief in the woman’s posture. He turned his attention to Liara and touched her shoulder. She stood and followed him as they left the hallway.~                 Drake: ~He turned his attention to the woman. She had frozen the moment he grabbed her. He turned her and held her under her left upper arm. Strange, she hadn’t said a word at all since she arrived here. He reached down and picked her up.~                 ~She hung over his shoulder just a bit. She didn’t struggle. She figured what was the point. They reentered the room. He lowered her to the ground and pushed her. She landed on the bed. She winced and grabbed her side. She felt wetness there. She could tell the wound had reopened. She heard rustling of clothes. She turned the man had light some candles. He had removed the cape and was rolling his sleeves up.~                 Drake: ~He turned to her. He had picked up a cup from the desk. He walked over and held it out to her.~ Drink ~He waited the woman never made a move and just stared at the cup. He gave a sigh and took the cup. He watched her turn her head. He already knew the woman didn’t trust him. He took the cup and brought it to his own lips. He held the liquid in his own mouth.~                 ~She turned away in fear. She was caught again. What was his motivation? Why does he still have her here? The thought and questions swirled in her head. She felt movement. She turned only to have the man catch her under the chin. Their lips met. She felt him force her mouth open and the liquid trickle into her own mouth. She fought to not swallow. She was taken by surprise by the fang that brushed her lower lip. She swallowed the liquid. And pulled away. The man released her after as she coughed.~                 Drake: ~He turned away and made his way to the desk. He waited for a bit then turned his attention to the woman.~ Answer my questions willingly and answer truthfully. I’ll spare your life and it will be yours to do with. ~He watched her.~                 ~She wiped her mouth. She felt the liquid working. Holding her throat as it untightened. She cleared her throat and turned to him.~ How did you know? ~Her voice was still hoarse from being unable to speak.~                 Drake: Since the beginning, when you first arrived. No word or greeting. Unusual and even when you tried driving a dagger through my chest still no sound. Now then, ~He stood up straight and walked over. He watched her. She flinched.~ Don’t worry no harm will befall you. Unless you try for my life again.                 No, I won’t try for your life again. There is no point after all. ~Her voice was clearer. She sat up wincing in pain. She touched her side once again. The bleeding stopped. It didn’t tear too much after falling to the ground.~ So what now? I suspect you won’t let me go willingly. ~She watched the man warily. She didn’t quite trust him or figure out that stone face of his.~ What do you want to know?  Drake: Your name.
