“I want to try again,” Libby says and the words slam into me so hard I nearly reel.
“You want to try...us again?” I manage.
She’s fighting down a smile. She must know how this hit me. Who am I kidding? Of course, she knows. This is Libby.
And for a second, I don’t trust myself to say anything because I know I’ll say it wrong.
The wind whips down the stable aisle again and I step closer to her, blocking it. She hooks a strand of dark hair behind her ear and looks up at me. “Yes. I want to try us again.”
My heart double-thumps. “Are you sure?”
“I think so.”
Ouch. That’s not exactly a glowing recommendation and I have to fight the urge to kiss her, to make her remember not only why we should try again, but why we were f*****g perfect to start with. I fist b
