Cleo I looked across the table at Asher. He was staring at me again. Not casually. Not curiously. He was watching me like I was some kind of problem he hadn’t figured out how to solve. His expression was hard, his jaw tight, and there was something almost hostile lurking behind those striking blue eyes. I had no idea what his problem was. But I wasn’t interested in starting a war over breakfast. So, for the sake of keeping the peace, I forced a polite smile. “It’s nice to meet you, future Alpha.” Nothing. Not even a nod. Asher simply returned his attention to his plate and continued eating as though I hadn’t spoken. I blinked. Well… that’s charming. I glanced at Eric. He looked just as confused as I felt. Then I looked toward Alpha Xavier. He was watching me. Not Asher.
