Chapter 2: Cracks of Realizations

1151 Words
Going off from school, Gwen's whole body hurts that she can't figure out what the reason is. Maybe it's because of all her thinking and worrying about school or maybe it's the conflict she's facing now with Lorenz that she doesn't even know who to cope up things aynomore. Lorenz still haven't got the chance to reach out after what happened and for the whole week, it seems like he completely forgets his girlfriend, who is just waiting for his calls and reply. Gwen wanted to talk to him but she didn't have the strength to and overall because she and Lorenz might cause another havoc all over again. Gwen could no longer handle what was bothering her mind and quickly took her cell phone from her side, the later immediately called her boyfriend. It took several rings before Lorenz answered Gwen's repeated calls to him. "What do you want?" Lorenz spoke quickly, he wasn't angry, it wasn't happy either, there was almost no emotion in his tone. "Where are you?" Gwen asked. "Still at Dad's. Why did you call all of a sudden, I thought you're still mad at me." "Who wouldn't be angry, you'll doubt me like that. You know I don't do those stuffs and what's even more painful is that I feel like I'm at fault when I as well inform you during the times you go out or have a drink with your friends, I haven't even received any updates from you." "Why are you bringing it up again? Gwen, I'm at home, I don't want any mess and whatnot since dad needs me here." Gwen suddenly got up. "What do you mean? No, Lorenz. I'm getting tired, what's your problem, you know I'm stressed at school too." "And I am handling a business too, Gwen. I am a fresh graduate and I want a better future too," Lorenz said annoyed. "So I'm not really in the future that you're planning?!" The girl started to cry because of the pain she was feeling. Lorenz did not speak, his head was hurting too. "Can you please stop being so immature, Gwen? I'm sick of it." "You're pathetic, you're really shameless. Just tell me if you're with someone else–" "I have no one else, okay? How many times do I have to tell you not to put your so called third party into our conversation!" "You keep denying it, you're not even making an effort to fix our relationship. Can't I just have some reassurance from you or even explain your side, can't you do it? You're always leaving and ignoring me–" "You're overreacting again. Give it a rest first, you're just tired," as soon as Lorenz ended his sentence, the call follows on halt. Gwen went to throw her phone across the room, her mind was in a mess because of the series of questions that entered her mind. A lot has changed in their relationship, she still believes that she can keep up with Lorenz's lifestyle but she can't really change it, her boyfriend's life status is too high and Lorenz's behavior is very different . Gwen slept that night with cheeks stained with tears. "Gwen? What are you doing here?" a familiar housekeeper greets Gwen as she heads to Lorenz's apartment. "Auntie, can I come in?" "Oh Gwen–" "Aunt, who's that?" Lorenz's voice called. That was enought for Gwen to poke out. "Thank you, Auntie. I'm coming in," Gwen quickly went inside the unit. She met Lorenz halfway across the living room who was shocked to see her inside his apartment. "Gwen, what are you doing here– how did you know I was here?" Lorenzo was panicking. "Some of your friends said you never left the city. I won't be here for long for your information, I just want to tell you and mop you up that I want to end this relationship," Gwen spoke with an utmost confidence. Lorenz just looked at her and stared softly at her face. "You're breaking up with me?" Lorenz asked. "Yes, I'm tired, Lorenz. No need explanation for it since I know you're aware for how we lack of things for each other, we don't have much time and I want to pursue my future job too. I guess this is it," Gwen had her words straight into the air but it just hurts so much from what she was spitting up into. It's against her will, but there is a little hope inside her that Lorenz would at least stop her, that he would at least realize a whole new stroke. Lorenz heaved a sigh. "Well, if that's what you want then I'm giving it to you," was Lorenz's only answer which also surprised the girl. It was as if cold water was poured upon hearing Lorenz's answer. "W-what did you say? It's okay with you– that it's like this... that we split up?" she was flabbergasted. "Yes," Gwen was crying, she was crying in front of him but Lorenz didn't seem to have it because he didn't even move or give a reaction. Gwen thought the same thing, that it was really easy and that Lorenz let go of her because she knew that the man didn't really love her completely, or maybe he didn't really love her to begin with. Gwen quickly left Lorenz's apartment. Black is the only color of air Gwen sees right now. It seems like her whole body forgot to function on its own, she wasn't home either. No one knows where she's at as of this moment and even Camille, who flooded her phone with calls and messages doesn't know where she's at right now. Gwen was at peace, but her mind and heart was both at war and death, it seems like everyone disappeared around her. The wind gushes through her hair, messing few of the strands, she quickly wiped her eyes from the immense amount of crying and stares far across the view. Thanking God that there was a closest beach in the area, Gwen quickly hailed a cab and decided to clear her mind at the sound of the shore. The driver earlier appears to understand what was happening to her an hour again yet he didn't say anything. A buzz from her pocket cut her off, Gwen slowly fished out her phone – Camille was calling. Drying her nose as well as her swelling eyes, Gwen tried to clear her voice before answering the call, "Hello?" "Gwen, please. Where are you, I am so worried sick about you." "I'm going home right away. I'm sorry, I am just not fine as of now but I promise you I'll get home safely." If things are just easy for Gwen to say, yet everything happens for some reason and she can't change it anymore. Guess it was for the better.
