Chapter 1: Doubts Erupted Upon the Heart
"Lorenzo is cheating on you again?!"
"No way, he would never do that... I guess? But I know he would never do that." Gwen's head was burning, mixed emotions that fixes her annoyed face because of mountain pile of school works on her desk, in addition to the series of not-so-good issues that she hears about her boyfriend. She just took a deep breath and at the same time fixes her hair.
Their final exam is fast approching and they are also graduating students, they are moving too fast at the University. "You know if I were you, we'll go out first and then we'll have ice cream so your body can cool down," said Camille, one of Gwen's closest friends who she's been with for several years.
"I don't know, it's just a feeling because maybe if I just let myself ignore what I'm reading now, maybe I'll fail my class and I don't want those things."
"That's why we're going out, right? It's just quick and then we'll come back to the dormitory. Also, I have an exam and I'm also a student, we're both the same so let's go," insisted Camille. There was nothing Gwen could do but follow her friend because she was right, she really needs a short break.
She and Camille also dressed up quickly, it was getting late and convenience stores and malls were also close to their dormitory but they preferred to walk.
"I'll message my boyfriend first that we're outside," Gwen said. "After all those mess you've been hearing about him yet you still have time to update him your whereabouts."
The two of them are currently walking on the sidewalk to their dormitory, holding ice cream and some finger foods that they can eat later or tomorrow.
The next day, Gwen left early with Camille for University. Gwen also immediately saw her boyfriend talking to some strangers on the field. There it is, the one and only man who had her whole system spins, Lorenzo Sevilleja. He was aparently good in everything and Gwen can't deny how he still affects her even after all the mistreatment she receives from the man.
"Love, why haven't you come in yet?" Gwen asked as she approached Lorenzo. The girl couldn't help but stare at the young man for a long time because the gentleness of Lorenz's face was really different. Even though he is very much aloof, she knows that the young man still loves her. "A teacher called me," Lorenzo shortly answered.
"Take care."
"You too," was Lorenz's only respond before leaving with some of his companions earlier.
Gwen immediately looked at Camille who was also by her side the whole time.
"It's ugly, yes. I can't believe I just witnessed that. Is that really your boyfriend? Treating you like it's worse than not knowing you," Camille said.
"Let it go, it's morning, he is probably not in the mood or he didn't take his breakfast."
"I don't know, Gwen. Stop being so blind."
That very morning, Gwen's day did not go well. Aparently, she did not see her boyfriend during her whole day at the University. She doesn't even know if Lorenz was intentionally trying to avoid her but one things for sure, she really didn't like what was happening anymore.
After finishing her class, Gwen immediately went home and cried her whole heart inside the dorm. She knows too well that even if she doesn't pay much attention to what is happening in their current relationship, yet that still shows, always being ambiguous.
.
"I won't be long, promise you. Dad just wants me to decide right away so I can settle down after few months, and going to Japan is another thing for us," explained Lorenzo. All Gwen could do was to release a deep sigh.
It was their monthary yet they particularly can't enjoy it for her boyfriend is going somewhere else, again. Though it's about Lorenz's business, the girl still can't sink it all in. "Call me an immature, Lorenz. But it's our monthsary right now, can't you stay at least for a while. You're leaving tomorrow, right? Why are you leaving right now," Gwen was hurt, and the fact the Lorenz was not having it at all.
Lorenzo gave her a pat on her head.
"Just say that you still love me."
"What are you talking about, Gwen. I don't know why you're acting like that."
"See, you're not going onto my point which I can't ignore!" Gwen exclaims.
"You know what I'm going to answer. I can't argue with you anymore, I have to go," Lorenzo didn't wait any longer to answer and left completely, leaving Gwen alone crying over what happened. It was too much for her, it's supposed to be that they enjoy the night that even if Gwen ditches what she's going to study tonight, she'll be able to do it. But as of now, it seems that her resentment towards her boyfriend has increased even more.
She spent the whole night crying, reflecting every factor and everything Lorenz had done to her. How many times has Lorenzo acted like that, how many times has it been as if he was nothing for Lorenzo.
Classes were down because suddenly there was an announcement at the University, although Gwen was not in the mood, she still had to re-read her textbooks for the upcoming exam, it was really close. Camille was at school but her best friend knew what happened last night. Gwen looked so gloomy as if the earth had dumped her.
Dinner was served by Camille, she knows Gwen probably doesn't want to eat anything after what happened so she will accompany her and make sure she can eat even a little.
Lorenzo might be anywhere right now, Gwen still hasn't received any messages from the young man tonight but he also told Gwen earlier that he was leaving. He didn't ask about how his girlfriend was doing or even just ask what his girlfriend was doing, as if it really didn't matter to Gwen.
For the following days, Gwen was a lot busier than she is before, taking the exam seriously; her future fully depends on her. She has forgotten few about what happened but the pain she feels is still there as she longs for Lorenzo.
"Everyone, let's go for a vacation break after the exams, it's too tiring and stressful to keep up with school now," said Lara, one of Gwen and Camille's friends in their department.
"I'm in ."
"Me too."
"Gwen? Camille?"
Camille quickly went to take a glance at her friend who was just dumbfounded in her chair.
"Oh, huh?"
"Are you okay, Gwen?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm sorry I can't come with you, I'll go to the dormitory first, I'm really sorry," it was her cue to leave immediately. Some of her friends don't know much about what is happening with Lorenz, only Camille knows about all the things Gwen has resented in life, so some of her friends don't have many reactions about it.
Camille was just watching her best friend studying at her desk, they were currently in the dormitory which serves as Gwen's lair for the pent up emotions she's keeping.
A sudden ring startled them, it was Gwen's phone.
"Lorenz is calling," Gwen said.
"Go for it."
Gwen nodded, she was a bit hesitant because Lorenz might have to say something about not updating her, but it's not new either, Gwen is used to it.
"Lorenz?"
"Where are you?"
"Only in the dormitory, why?"
"Nothing, I heard that you went out, but I don't know if I should believe it or not. Just make sure you're really in the dormitory, if I find out you're not there... ju–just don't go out," Lorenz spoke.
"Where did you got that I was out and who said that. You know I am not into those stuffs, why did you suddenly ask me and you exactly should have known it from the first place," Gwen was offended, why all of a sudden?
"I forgot, Gwen." the call ended quickly. She was furious, the audacity of him to poke her like that when in fact, he was exactly the way he doubts on Gwen.
