Once, in the great city of Ayodhya, King Dasharatha ruled with wisdom and justice. He had four sons: Rama, Bharata, Lakshmana, and Shatrughna. Rama, the eldest, was the crown prince, known for his unparalleled virtues, bravery, and kindness. The king, now aged, decided to pass on the throne to Rama, believing he was the perfect successor. However, Kaikeyi, Dasharatha’s second wife, was influenced by her maid Manthara, who poisoned her mind with jealousy. Kaikeyi was reminded of the two boons that the king had once promised her. Seizing this opportunity, she asked for two favors: that her own son Bharata be made king, and that Rama be exiled to the forest for 14 years. Dasharatha was heartbroken but bound by his promise. Rama, being the obedient son, accepted the exile without complaint, demonstrating his unwavering respect for his father’s word. Sita, his devoted wife, and Lakshmana, his loyal brother, refused to leave his side. Together, they left Ayodhya, bidding farewell to the city and the people who adored them. The trio journeyed deep into the forest, living a life of simplicity, far from the luxury of the palace. Though in exile, Rama was at peace, content to fulfill his duty. However, their trials were far from over, for in the distant kingdom of Lanka, the demon king Ravana was already scheming a plot that would soon change the course of their lives forever.
