Chapter01:Divorce
"We should get a divorce."
Heath handed the file bag to Freya, closely observing her reaction.
Freya's face was expressionless as she continued to arrange the cutlery on the dining table.
"Are you having dinner at home tonight?" Freya looked up, meeting Heath's gaze, her voice devoid of any emotion.
Heath mentioned that the company had been swamped with work recently, and he hadn't been home for a week, but he would return tonight.
Upon hearing the news, Freya spent the entire afternoon preparing a table full of Heath's favorite dishes, without even taking a break. But she never expected that the first thing Heath would say upon returning home was "divorce."
In fact, Freya had been mentally prepared. She knew that Ivy had come back a month ago, but she didn't expect Heath to be so eager. She also wondered what kind of spell Ivy had cast on him. Three years ago, Ivy left, leaving behind a mess and everyone in their circle waiting to see Heath's joke.
At that time, Heath was like a lost soul every day, drowning his sorrows in alcohol, making a mess of his life.
Now, he seemed to have amnesia, eagerly attaching himself to someone with just a wave of his hand.
At this moment, Heath interrupted Freya's thoughts. Seeing that she did not respond to the issue of divorce, he handed the file bag towards Freya again and added, "After the divorce, if you encounter any difficulties in life and need my help, you can tell me, I won't abandon you."
Heath looked at the woman in front of him. Her bare face was framed by a pair of thick black glasses, her chestnut hair simply tied on top of her head, and she was wearing a loose plaid shirt.
Too ordinary, just like a dish without any seasoning or decoration, it made people lose their appetite.
This girl from the farm had never been to school or worked. After marrying him, she left her original life circle and focused on staying at home, doing housework, washing clothes, cooking, and taking care of the family.
It has to be admitted that she has done a very good job in the past three years.
But what can that do? Heath had to quickly regain his single status because his favorite Ivy had come back and had already accepted his marriage proposal.
"Does she disagree? I usually treat her so well. Is she unwilling to return to farm life? Her life after the divorce will definitely become very bad, she must be unwilling." Heath was thinking in his heart, preparing to continue talking with Freya, "If she doesn't agree, then give her more compensation, as long as it's not too much."
Heath was willing to suffer a bit of loss, as long as Freya could sign as soon as possible. He had been waiting for Ivy for three years, and he didn't want to miss this opportunity again.
But Freya seemed to not have noticed Heath's complex thoughts. She turned and walked into the kitchen, opened the oven, put on gloves, and took out the baked vegetables.
"Are you having dinner at home tonight?" Freya put the plate in the center of the dining table and looked up at Heath again.
"She must not be able to accept this fact, it seems to give her some time to adapt." Thinking this way, Heath took back the file bag in his hand and put it on the edge of the table.
"I won't eat, I have an appointment tonight." Heath looked at a table full of his favorite food, a little moved. If it were before, even if he was busy, he would sit down and take a bite. But today is not good, he is here to talk about divorce, and he can't give Freya any illusion. The most important thing is that he has already made an appointment with Ivy to have dinner in the revolving restaurant.
Heath pointed to the folder on the table and continued, "I've put the stuff here. You think about it, if you have any other requirements, you can talk to the lawyer. Call me when you think about it."
After that, Heath looked at his watch and didn't look at Freya again, preparing to leave.
"I agree." Freya's voice came from behind.
"The property should be divided as it should be, I won't take a penny more from you. The only request is that this house should be given to me."
Heath was surprised by Freya's straightforwardness, and... she said this calmly, but he didn't think much about it, this is exactly what he wanted today.
"Okay." Heath tried his best to hide his joy and pretended to be generous to agree.
Heath has several properties under his name. Although this one is not the largest, it is the best environment and the most expensive. After getting married, Freya has been living here, and she must have some feelings for this house, or Freya also knows that this house is the most valuable.
Anyway, as long as you can regain your single status as soon as possible, everything is worth it, and he didn't expect the "negotiation" with Freya to be so smooth.
Thinking this way, Heath's mood has improved a lot, and he can tell Ivy the good news at the candlelight dinner later.
As soon as Heath left, Freya took out her mobile phone, opened the contacts, and dialed a number.
"Freya?"
"Yes, it's me."
"Hey, why did you think of calling me? Don't you want to enjoy family life? I don't have the life you want here."
"Don't talk nonsense. Where are you now?"
"In the mall, trying on clothes."
"Don't try it, come to my house to have dinner with me. Now, right now!"
"...You? Didn't you let us disturb you?"
"I'm divorced, you can come to find me." Freya's tone was calm, as if she was talking about someone else's things.
"Really!?" The person on the other end of the phone was extremely excited, "Give me a minute, I'll be over." After that, he added, "No, I must go and get a bottle of champagne to celebrate!"
In less than half an hour, a red Ferrari stopped at the door. A young lady with a graceful figure and exquisite attire got out of the car. She was carrying a bunch of shopping bags in her left hand and a bottle of champagne in her right hand, and knocked on Freya's door.
The door opened, and Freya in the house was still dressed as before.
The two people are of similar age, but they seem to come from two different worlds.
Rachel walked into the house and complained, "What's so enjoyable about family life? Celebrate your return to being single!" Rachel shook the champagne in her right hand and showed a proud smile, "I brought the wine."
After that, she looked up and down at Freya, nodding as she seemed satisfied.
"Fortunately, your figure hasn't changed in the past three years." Rachel handed the bunch of shopping bags in her hand to Freya and said, "I don't know if you like them or not, these are the new models that came out this year, and the clothes I like today are all bought according to your size. You can change it later, and follow me to a good place where there are all kinds of men."
No matter whether Rachel was sincere or just comforting Freya, the person was greatly appreciated.
"Let's talk about the evening later. I'm a bit hungry now. Could you accompany me to eat something?" Freya took the wine and said.
"Did you... make it all by yourself?" Rachel glanced at the dining table and asked doubtfully.
"Well," Freya answered casually, she sat down in her seat and motioned for Rachel to sit opposite her.
This table was prepared by her for an afternoon, and it couldn't be cheap for the trash can.
"Then I have to taste it well." Rachel saw that Freya's expression was as usual, and she tentatively gossiped, "Why did you suddenly get divorced? Did that guy bully you?"
Freya chewed the food in her mouth and slowly said, "I chose to get married at the beginning because I was tired and wanted to escape for a while and live an ordinary life. As for divorce today, it is also the same. I have had enough, and I want to go back."

"Okay," Heath did his best to hide his excitement, trying to act all generous about it. Heath owned several properties; this one wasn't the biggest, but it had the best location and was the most expensive. After they got married, Freya lived there, so she must have some attachment to the place — or maybe she just knew how valuable it was. Anyway, as long as he could get back to being single quickly, everything would be worth it; he hadn't expected things with Freya to go so smoothly. Thinking about that made Heath feel a lot better — he could share the good news with Ivy when they met for their candlelight dinner later.
As soon as Heath left, Freya pulled out her phone, scrolled through her contacts, and dialed a number.
"Freya?"
"Yeah, it's me."
"Hey! What made you think of calling? Aren't you supposed to be enjoying your family life? I don't have that kind of life."
"Cut the small talk — where are you right now?"
"In a mall trying on clothes."
"Stop shopping! Come over for dinner at my place — now!"
"...You? Aren't we not supposed to bother you?"
"I'm divorced now, you can come see me," Freya said calmly like she was talking about someone else's situation.
"Really?" The person on the other side sounded super excited. "Give me a minute. I’ll be there in no time!" "Wait! I need to grab a bottle of champagne first."
Freya took another bite of her food and replied slowly. "I got married because I was tired and wanted an escape for a bit — to live like an ordinary person. And today I'm getting divorced for pretty much the same reason: I've had enough and want my old life back."
