All through the lecture, I could not concentrate. Although I could not concentrate on the lecture, my eyes were plastered on the lecturer. I just figured out that he was a professor and I could not help but admire how packed he looked in a suit. After the class was over, I walked up to him before he could leave the hall
“Professor Ronan” I called his name to gather his attention. He looked at me with a neutral look in his eyes. While the lecture was going on, I learned one thing about him; people feared him, so much. And I could understand why as he carried this cold and unfriendly aura wherever he went.
When he saw that I was not saying anything, he raised one of his eyebrows and sought to leave but I stopped him with a hand blocking his way.
I quickly apologized for that
“I’m sorry for that sir. I just wanted to thank you once again for saving me today, if not for you, I don’t know what would have happened” I said with a genuine look as I gazed up at him.
“It’s no big deal, Miss Nora, I could have done that for any person, it is part of my job. Please, do me a favor and forget about it. And most importantly, leave me alone” Ronan said as he smiled at me. With one look, one would know that smile was not genuine. Saying this, he picked up his bag and left the hall, leaving me standing there all alone like a fool.
“What the? This man truly is not friendly at all” I said to myself as I hissed and left the hall.

After I was done with my classes and everything, I stayed outside, waiting for my mom to come pick me up. I stayed at the front of the school, tapping my toes as I felt excited that the day was finally over. Today was a whole lot and I could not wait to go back to my bed.
I looked to my side and I saw Ronan walking towards his car.
“Goodbye professor” I shouted as I waved at him. He saw me, sighed, entered his car, and drove off. I could see from the look on his face that he was tired of me
I giggled to myself as I gazed at his car.
“My Nunu bear” I heard the voice of my mother and I smiled at her as I walked towards her car.
“Mom,” I said as I hugged her immediately I sat down.
“Hmm, someone looks so happy, how was your day?” I smiled within me as I remembered my handsome prince, soon enough, a blush formed on my face.
“Huh, someone is blushing. Who is he?” My mother said as she turned towards me, giving me a look that said that I should spill everything
“There’s no one Mom,” I said lying to my mother as I turned to face the window.
“Ok, but you still have to tell me how your day went later.” Saying this, my mother started driving and soon enough, I fell asleep in the car.
I woke up just as we arrived at our house.
I stepped out of the car and went straight to my room.
I had my bath, did my assignments, and slept off again.
I woke up just in time for dinner and I headed downstairs to have dinner with my family.
“Dad” I smiled as I saw my dad who just came back from work. He stood up and hugged me closely as he sniffed my hair.
“My little princess, how was your first day at school? Hope you enjoyed yourself”
“Yes I did, but I was missing you,” I said as I pouted while playing with his tie and the button of his shirt. This was one of my usual tricks to make my mom jealous and it worked once again.
“Heyyy, that’s my husband. Do that to your husband when you get married” my mom said as she brought the spoon she was using to serve our food towards me.
I smiled within myself as I fake-cried
“Dad, your wife is after my life,” I said as I hugged him even closer. I love having this kind of conversation with my family. It makes me forget all that I am going through.
“It’s okay Barbara, you have enough of me, let my little princess enjoy it too,” My dad said as he smiled at my mom while mouthing to her
“But you alone own me”
My dad released me and we all took our seats to have dinner. Today, we were having chicken nuggets, beef soup, some bread, and some avocados.
“Nora, did you meet Mrs Armani?” My mom asked me just as I was about to pick some avocados
“Yeah, I saw her. Your friend with a thick voice, sometimes I wonder if she swallowed a microphone because it was so thick and loud. I feel pity for my eardrums” I said touching my eardrums like they were hurt.
“Don’t call her that. That is being disrespectful” my mom said with a small smile plastered on her face. She also knew I was right there.
“Ok Mom,” I said, and soon enough, the silence came back.
After a while, when we were done with dinner, my mom brought up another conversation
“By the way, Nora, Laura’s parents called me today”
Hearing the name of my best friends, my attention was piqued.
“Why what happened? Is she no longer coming?” I asked as I felt sad at that thought. I had no friends aside from Laura and I would feel much better if she could be around me and not thousands of meters away.
“Well, she told me that Laura might not come again,” my mom said, observing my expression. She quickly noticed the hurt on my face and she hugged me.
“Her aunt moved out and left the city. She could not cope with the bills” Barbara said still hugging me
“But that’s not fair,” I said with a cracked voice as tears began to fall from my eyes
My mom felt hurt seeing me hurt and I could not just control it. Immediately my tears started dripping, and a storm came. Seeing the sudden rain, my dad came downstairs as he knew the source of the rain.
Seeing me sobbing in my mother’s arms, he came closer as he asked
“What happened? Why is she crying?”
“She’s hurt because Laura can not come anymore, she truly misses her,” my mom said patting me, trying to stop my tears but no matter what she did, I could not control it. These past few weeks have been an emotional rollercoaster and I kept myself going because Laura was coming and she could help me but now that she’s no longer coming…
“But I thought I told you not to reveal it to her yet?” my dad said a little angrily. He never gets angry at my mom unless when it comes to me and I tried to control my tears before the matter would escalate.
Controlling his anger and emotions, my dad walked towards me, took my hands, and dragged me towards him. He made me sit on his legs just like I used to a few years back.
“What should I do to stop your tears my little princess?” my dad asked and I cleaned my tears, sniffing a little bit as I looked at him
“Dad, I know it’s hard but can Laura stay with us? Even if it is for a few months” I said looking at my dad while pleading with my eyes. I turned around to look at my mom too and I saw her smiling at me.
“Ok, if that is what you want, then Laura will stay with us” Hearing those words from my dad, I turned towards him and showed a surprised look
“Really?” I asked him while still looking at him
“Anything for my princess,” my dad said as he smiled at me, showing me his pair of clean straight teeth.
I hugged him tightly as I felt happy once again.
“Thank you so much, Dad,” I said still hugging him.
I suddenly stood up from his lap, ran towards my mother, and gave her the same hug.
“Thank you, Mom, I love you both” Saying this, I ran to my room with a huge smile plastered on my face. The rain had stopped and so were my tears. All I felt now was happiness and pure happiness. But that was just for a short while too.
