Screwed

“What the hell, Fifi?! I’ve been calling you for the nth time already! Where are you?”          I groaned and put my phone away for a few seconds. Anna’s shouting made me feel like my head is going to burst if it’s not already going to split in two. I roll to my side and cover my head with my blanket as I place my phone over my right ear.           “Sorry, Anna. I got a terrible hangover.”           “Hangover my ass Felicity you barely had a glass of wine!”           “I did? Woah! Then how come it feels like I drank the whole barrel.” It’s not a lie. I did feel like I was drunk for three straight days.           “Whatever, just get your ass down here as fast as you can. I don’t know what you did last night but the new boss has been looking for you since he came in at six.”           “Why would he do that?” I asked, now a bit curious.           “Oh, I would love to know. Are you sure you haven’t met him?”           I rolled my eyes at her prying. Anna is a great boss but she also loves to gossip. It’s not surprising she’d pop the question but I’m as clueless as her. “Not a clue. I didn’t even get to see him at the party last night because I arrived late.”           It’s true. My car broke and I had to grab a cab to get to the venue where our company held the New Year’s party as well as the introduction of the new CEO. The party was already in a full blow when I got there and everyone was in high spirit because of the acquisition. Just before Christmas break, we were told that the Company is going bankrupt and had already been sold. Fearing what’s going to happen, most of the employees didn’t have the heart to attend the yearly celebration. Even I had second thoughts. If not for the message blast invitation we received, and the announcement of good news, no one would’ve gone there.           “If I didn’t know you’re still a virgin I’d say you hooked up with him because there’s no way a hunk like him will know you.”           “Beats me. I’m going to shower, be there in ten.” I dismissed her. I knew her well to miss the subtle sarcasm in her voice. Yeah, yeah. Why would anyone pay attention to a four-eyed bland woman like me? It sounds awful but I’ve gotten used to it.           “Hurry up! Don’t make the boss wait!”           I dropped the call and dragged myself to the bathroom. “It’s his first day and he’s already violating the labor code! It’s my rest day for Christ's sake.” I murmur as I grab a headache bottle from the medicine cabinet. But before I can pop the tablet in my mouth, I notice something weird.           My hand reached to my still swollen lips. “My lips don’t swell like this in the morning…”           Then it hit me. “No way…” I shook my head but stopped and looked at my reflection in the mirror. “I kissed a man last night?” Not just any man but Sean f*****g Steves, the new alpha of Scarlett moon pack!             “I’m screwed.”   ***                      I arrived at the building exactly ten minutes later, still bothered with recalling what I did before the party ended and confused if it really did happen or not.           It must be a dream. How can he be there of all places?           I did hear from Nana that he’s back to take his father’s place as the Alpha, but that’s not here in this city. Nah, he had no reason to see me either so it must really be a dream, or I must really be so drunk. Heck, I didn’t even know how I got home.           Could it be a coincidence? He could just be at the same place at the same time…           “No…” I shook my head. There’s no coincidence when it comes to that man but even if he was here, there’s no way that could happen. He hates me, hates being near me, and especially hates my whole existence.           My head hurts just thinking about it and to make it worse, Anna has been ringing me since I jumped inside the cab that I had to turn off my phone.           I’m just going to tell her that I forgot to charge my battery.           Sprinting towards the elevator, I pulled my gray pencil skirt down and brushed my wavy long hair with my hands. I’m a pants lady so I’m never comfortable wearing a skirt especially one like this that makes me feel like a tightly wrapped taco.           “Excuse me! Please wait up!” I called before the elevator guy pressed the close button. “Whew! Thanks, Luis I thought I won’t make it!.” I wiped the beads of sweat on my forehead while I smiled at him.           “Ms. Fifi?” he asked with his forehead creased. It looks like he’s seeing a ghost or something.           “Yeah. What’s wrong? Do I have something on my face?” I didn’t grow a horn did I? Or is it my lipstick? I don’t usually wear one but did today, just a light shade to hide my swollen lips.            “Ah, no… I… I just didn’t recognize you at once. Y-you, look different. You’re not wearing your glasses…” He said as he scratched his head and smiled, his cheeks slightly flushed.           “Oh… that. I’m wearing contacts. I lost my glasses last night so I had to wear this instead.” I smiled at him awkwardly.           Do I look like a mess? Jeez… I prefer to wear my glasses than my contacts because it’s not a hassle. I only have this pair because I can’t say no to the sales lady who assisted me when I had my glasses repaired. She said that if she didn’t get to sell a pair of this by the day, she’ll get fired. I sound gullible, I know, but what is one good deed a day? I’ve been there as well so I know how hard it can be.           Unconsciously, I ran my hand over my hair another time as I adjusted my white chiffon blouse.  That’s when I notice the buttons of my blouse are in the wrong holes. I skipped one right above my chest that’s why it won’t flat out no matter how I pull it down. Not that I would in the first place. It’s one size smaller than what I usually wear because just like the skirt, it’s the only pair I can find in such little time that I don’t need to iron. I sighed in frustration as I glanced at Luis who looked as stiff as wood in his corner. There’s only the two of us inside, but I’ve known him since my first day here.            He's always been a courteous and friendly guy. He won’t jump at me, right?           “Ah… Luis, can you please turn your back for a moment?” I clutch my chest to cover what he must have seen already. I have to unbutton it and button it back again here and now. Knowing Anna, she’ll surely be pacing in front of the elevator while waiting for me.           He blushed before he stuttered, “o-of course Ms. Fifi…” then he swiftly turned his back on me.             I didn’t waste any time and hurriedly unbuttoned my blouse. But I must be having a really bad day, the button snaps out of the blouse and into the floor; the one that’s right above my damn chest!           s**t! I’m two floors away. Good thing the door doesn’t open on every floor.           I stepped back and surveyed the floor. Where did it go? I bit my lips in frustration. Damn it! I can’t face the boss looking like this. I wanted to cry, but crying won’t do me any good.           “Ah… Ms. Fifi, I got a clothespin here, you can use this.” Luis extended his hand holding the pen, while he looked the other way.           “Oh! Thank you, Luis! You’re my savior!” I gently squeeze his hand with both of mine while I smile warmly. I’m right! He is a nice guy!           Just then, the elevator pinged and opened up. No… no! I haven’t fastened my blouse yet!           I turn around and try to work on it as fast as I can but it was too late.           “What the heck are you two doing here?!” A familiar voice boomed inside the whole floor and I’m quite sure everyone heard it but that’s not what made my body stiffen - It was that voice.
