CHAPTER 3: The ball

718 Words
On Saturday, Aaron, Carlos, and Caleb went to kingdom of Bluesky, Benjamin's kingdom like they planned. They met up with Benjamin and went to kingdom of Rivin. After one long hour, they arrived at their destination. Once they reached the ballroom, Carlos immediately fled from his friends, looking for food. Aaron, being an adventurous boy, wandered of his group. He wandered and wandered and found a girl. It was the girl he danced with during Headmistress Flora's retirement ball. The girl noticed his presence and made eye contact with him. Soon the eye contact was broken when someone called the girl's name.  "Princess Melody!" A voice called out.  "Oh. Prince Herbert," Melody replied.  "Please dance with me," Herbert requested while offering his hand to her. Melody glanced at Aaron and took Herbert's hand, allowing herself to be led onto the dance floor. Melody and Herbert danced, becoming the center of attention.  "They are so lovely," a woman complimented both of them.  "Ya, I agree," another woman agreed.  Aaron heard those compliments and noticed Melody wasn't smiling at those comments like Herbert is. The music stopped, Herbert and Melody stopped dancing as well. Melody excused herself politely and went off. Aaron noticed that she is leaving and decided to follow her. Soon, both of them crossed path. The music started and they began to dance. While they were dancing, Prince Samuel, heir of Rivin, brother of Melody, recognized Aaron. He tried to warned his father about it but his father being drunk, did not listen. Soon, Aaron and Melody left the ballroom.  They quickly ran into an empty room near the ballroom and entered it. They made sure the door is locked after going in. They took a closer look at each other and confirmed that they were the ones that they met in Headmistress Flora's retirement ball. Without a second thought, they kissed each other on the lips passionately.  Knock! Knock!  Melody opened the door and found out that it was her friend who knocked the door.  "What is it Wing Yan?" Melody asked.  "Your parents need to see you," Wing Yan answered.  Melody glanced at Aaron and ran back to the ballroom.  "Who is her mother and father?" Aaron asked after Melody left.  "Her parents are the king and queen of this kingdom," Wing Yan answered with a poker face.  Aaron was shocked hearing Melody's identity.  "So she's a Rivin?" Aaron asked. "Yes she is," Wing Yan answered, "who are you?" Aaron sighed, feeling embarrassed. "I don't want to say because I am prince Aaron, heir of Severin," Aaron forced himself to say. "You do know that Rivin and Severin are enemies right?" Wing Yan asked. "Yes," Aaron replied, "I want it to stop. Is she the heir?" "Nope, her brother is," Wing Yan replied, "he is convinced that these two kingdoms are enemies." Meanwhile in the ballroom, Melody was looking for her parents who are sitting at the long white table at the end of ballroom.   "Mother? Father? You asked to see me?" Melody asked her parents.  "No?" King Andrew questioned himself whether he called his daughter or not.  "I did!" A voice came from the far left of the table.  "Do you have to use our names?" Queen Esther asked.  "Yes, or else she will think I'm a joke," Samuel replied.  "What do you need me for?" Melody asked her brother.  "Meet me at the dining hall after the ball. I have to tell you something. It is urgent," Samuel answered.  "Ok," Melody replied.  "Melody, why don't you hang out with your friends or Herbert?" King Andrew suggested. "Ok," Melody replied, running off to her friends.  When she reached her friends, she quickly asked Wing Yan about the boy she saw in the room. "You met a boy?" Angel asked Melody excitedly.  "Shh!" Melody shushed Angel, not wanting anyone to overhear their conversation.  "His name is Aaron, the heir of Severin," Wing Yan answered.  "Sigh, what have I gotten myself into?" Melody questioned herself.  Angel and Wing Yan heard what she said.  "Are you ok Melody?" Angel asked, concerned for her friend.  "Ya. I'm fine," Melody lied, trying to reassure her friends.  The ball ended, all the guest left the palace. As Samuel requested, Melody went to the dining hall to look for her brother.
