Sally huffed and looked defeated. I stopped and looked her up and down.
“If you don’t think he should be Alpha, why’d you agree to be his Beta?”
“Someone needs to be in charge, and he needs help.”
“If you want to help so much, why don’t you be Alpha?” I grumbled and walked away. Is this why she came? To convince me to be Alpha?
“I know my place. People don’t listen to me, I’m invisible. But I can get information from them. An Alpha must be someone others notice.”
“You have to make others notice you.”
“You don’t. Neither did Brawn. You walk into a room, and people notice. They listen.”
“It doesn’t matter.” I grumbled and continued along the path. I don’t have to explain myself. We aren’t pack, and I don’t want everyone knowing about my past either.
