Pepper The ground was soft and caressed my skin. A breeze blew, carrying the sweet scent of pollen to me. I fluttered my eyes open and stared up at a pale blue sky filled with puffy clouds. Where am I? I sat up and locked eyes with a spirit wolf. It was the same one that always led me through the misty woods. I wiped my eyes and looked around. Rose bushes surrounded me. An image of Sally’s torn-up body flashed through my mind, and I jolted upright. I have to get out of here! They need help! I rushed past the spirit wolf, to the moon blossom tree. I halted when I saw the silver-haired woman standing underneath the tree, near the pond. It was as if a veil had been over my eyes when I’d seen her the other times. She was clear, in stark color. Her fine silver hair shined in the sunlight.
