Trees rushed past me as I ran through the forest. Being free and running as a wolf was liberating. Wind ruffled my fur, and the sun warmed my back. I didn’t know where I was going, but it didn’t matter. My leg hurt, but it was manageable. I could run and jump as much as I wanted. Within moments, I was at the creek where Pepper and I had stopped when we’d gone to visit the altar. I stopped for a drink and gave my leg a rest. It was weak from being injured and getting little exercise. Rabbits bounced in bushes across the river, and my stomach growled. I found a spot along the riverbank where I jumped across.
