Rhett pulled me into a hug and kissed me. “Can I try it now?” He asked in a hopeful tone.
I opened my mouth to say yes, but I hesitated. If only there was a way to try it before giving it to him. We made it right, but what if it doesn’t work? What if it has horrible side effects?
Test it on Hugo. A voice whispered in the back of my mind. I shoved the dark thought away for a moment. Would it be cruel to test it on him? I have nothing else to give him. All I’ve been able to do for him is keep him in a coma.
I’d be doing a good thing if I gave it to him. But I knew better. My intentions weren’t to help him, they were to test the potion on him. To see how it reacted, what it did to people.
“Let’s give it to Hugo first.” I chewed my lip, hating myself for my choice.
