“Hello?” The witch said.
“Pepper, is that you?” A high-pitched, feminine voice said through the phone.
“Oh, Emily. Yes, it’s Pepper. What can I do for you?” The witch relaxed and twirled her finger in the phone cord.
“Brawn asked me to call about the wolf at your place. Has he woken up?” Emily said. Pepper turned to me, and our eyes met. I tensed, unsure who or what Emily was. After a moment, Pepper pursed her lips and looked away, still twirling her finger.
“No, he’s still in a coma.” Pepper said. There was a long pause on the other side, until the woman scoffed.
“He’s been there for 6 days, and still in a coma? You know, Alpha Brawn told you to call and report to him when the wolf woke up. Are you disobeying him?” Emily said. It was the wrong thing to say, as Pepper’s eyes narrowed,
