Cold air slipped over my skin as I walked through the portal door. I hated seeing Rhett upset, but I knew in my gut this couldn’t wait any longer. I’d been waiting for him to wake up, and now that I was certain he was fine, it was time.
I stepped into the ocean view room where I’d gotten the necromancy book from. Goosebumps climbed up my arms.
The once perfectly clean room had since been burnt. The ceiling was missing, with the wall to my right being burnt away, leaving the room exposed to the elements. The harsh scent of recent fire filled my nose. Books littered the floor, most of them were black and smoldering.
