Chapter 13

1633 Words

I had spent several hours mulling over the ritual, and I knew the steps by heart. But, just to be sure, I went upstairs and grabbed it anyway. The ritual required an offering for the wolves. The book listed several ideas but suggested that they should be food of high quality with variety. Since the book was written before manufacturing processes had been invented, I decided they should also be handmade. Thankfully, I had homemade foods aplenty. I grabbed a jar of my bee’s honey, along with a jar of my favorite cherry preserves. Scones, clotted cream, cookies, dry aged ham hock, along with some other food items. All of it was from my garden or preserved myself. I choose high value items that were important to me, things that I would miss. If I enjoyed them, hopefully the wolves would too.
