Nate
We were all vibing in the car. It's gonna be a while before we get to do this again, once school starts to weigh on us. I thought.
I looked around us all and just smiled. I smiled even harder when I caught Jamie staring at Ava through the rear view mirror. I looked to my right and saw that I wasn't the only one that noticed.
Celia was legit confused for while, silently looking and tracing Jamie's line of sight. She looked for sometime before she decided to let it go and continue with the songs.
A small smirk found it way to my lips at that. Celia has always been observant. She may be seen as the loud mouth, social type, but she's beauty, brains and brawn. She has no problem calling people out on their stuff, but she knows when and how to. She's super polite and respectful, but don't cross the line.
Cee-cee has noticed. This dude definitely can't hide or deny his feelings. My boy's running out of time, very soon the whole city will find out. The thought came to me and a big smile covered my lips.
Cee-cee then brought up the topic and plan of us hanging out during the weekend. I thought it her way of bringing Jamie and Ava closer, but her tone was all emotional. A huge contrast to the strong Celia we were all used to, it touched me somehow. It showed she is more in tune with her emotions than she lets us see. It was like she was really sad we won't have time to see ourselves anymore, though 12th grade just started yesterday.
We all settled to meet on Saturday and Celia mumbled something. I turned to look at her, and she was all hot blooded like her usual self. I just shot her a smirk and she looked at me confused before she smiled back.
"Cee-cee, what's going on? What are you trying to do?" Those were the thoughts I had while watching her sing and dance to all the songs we played.
Football practice
The first practice of the year. I feel so excited and yet lazy. I was already getting used to going home a tad bit earlier. I had enough time to bake and sleep, but now the baking has been shifted to weekends.
I ran laps round the field for a good warm up and then stretched. I worked out during the holidays and I feel totally ripped. The looks the cheerleaders gave me also told me so. I revelled in the attention, but also wondered why they decided to practice the same day we did.
I got my answer the moment Coach asked us, to divide ourselves and play against eachother.
11 against 11,Skins against jerseys.
As Jamie took off his shirt, the girls went wild. But when Steve took his off, I saw some girls snickering and laughing. They were doing the annual best bod search and I guess they found a winner.
I took my shirt off and went to Jamie's side. Coach watched while the assistant coach, Mr Stav acted as our referee. The whistle was blown and we started our kick off. We started by playing it safe and passing to our teammates.
The safe game took a huge turn when Casey decided to fumble the ball. The other team saw this and decided to take the chance. Ivan with the speed of light, got the ball and ran into our side of the field with two other guys right behind him.
Ivan dribbled and manoeuvred himself round some of my teammates and found himself fave to face with the goal keeper. Two defenders ran towards him and he took the shot before they could get to him. The girls cheered as the ball flew towards the right corner of the goal post, and we all waited for Jeremy to make his move. Jeremy managed to hit the ball out of the goal, then one of our teammates trapped it and made his way to the other side of the field.
"Someone has been practicing corner shots hasn't he?" Jeremy questioned Ivan who gave a smirk and then said, " I had no choice. I couldn't stay all bored during vacation." Before jogging towards his side of the field.
The game went on some more for a few minutes with my team in the lead with one point.
"Good game boys! you guys have gotten stronger. Good to see you guys didn't slack off during vacation," Coach said with an appreciative nod after the whistle was blown.
"Thanks Coach!" We echoed.
"Good, but we are still going to train till there's no one that could beat you guys. You hear me boys?"
"Yes Coach!"
"Good...now Mr Stav, what did you notice about today's friendly match? since you were up close as the referee today." He gave all the attention to Mr Stav.
Mr Stav cleared his throat before speaking, "Well, there were no rough or fowl play from Cal, better shooting control for corner shots from Ivan, Jeremy's reflexes got sharper, Casey gained speed but needs more control..." Mr Stav continued to give his analysis while we all stood there listening.
"Logan needs more stamina and Percy needs to pay attention to his passes and surroundings. That's about it for my opinion."
We nodded our heads as we thought about what he observed in silent agreement.
"Nice to see I wasn't the only one that noticed that. So I'm going to arrange some exercises and practices to help you improve your skills, and also arrange friendly matches so you guys can be in sync after each level up." Coach spoke up again. The wheels in his head were turning alot and fast. I just knew this year wasn't gong to be easy, but it'll be worth it when we win.
We were soon dismissed and almost immediately girls swarmed us.
"Hi guys, nice game."
"You guys are so good at playing."
"You guys looked awesome and cool..."
"and hot," those were all that we could hear from their sickenly sweet voices.
"Nahh...It's nothing really all we did was run around," Ivan drawled.
One the other hand, Jamie looked rather unamused and I just wanted to go home...its been a long day. I walked up to Ivan and whispered that me and Jamie were off. Once I broke free from the girls, I put on my shirt and headed towards the parking lot with Jamie right behind me.
"Oh yeah! the girls went ahead of us, so no need to wait," Jamie revealed once we got to the car. He got in the drivers seat while I settled beside him in the passengers seat. We began driving when suddenly we hear Ivan calling to us while running. We peeped him through the side mirrors and laughed.
"Let's make him chase the car for a bit," I thought with a smirk on my face and as if Jamie read my mind, he stopped the car so Ivan could catch up only to move once Ivan touched the handle.
We both laughed at the surprised, annoyed and frustrated look on his face. We did this some more till Ivan gave up trying to chase us and started making his way to get a taxi. We snickered a bit and decided to stop playing with him and stopped right in front of him. He huffed and went on like we weren't there.
"Ohh~ we got Ivan in his sassy mood," Jamie practically sang and I laughed. We stopped in front of him two more times before he got in and once he did, he faced the window and didn't speak to us till we apologized.
"ouu~ you behave like such a spoilt princess sometimes, you know that?" I asked which earned me a huff.
"Come on, don't be mad...we are sorry," Jamie coaxed. He didn't seem to budge till we mentioned cupcakes, to which he smiled. I gave Jamie a nod and we made our way to my place.
