The Alpha and His Sweetie Baker Mate

I was standing in front of the window in my office. I’ve watched as warriors trained, the kids were playing and teenagers were on their way from school. I had everything an alpha could have asked for; a loyal and strong pack. But still, something was missing. "We are missing our Luna." My wolf, Cedric said. I was already 22. I should have found my mate at 18, but she was nowhere to be found. She was not in my pack. I traveled to the neighborhood packs as well, but nothing. I can not be complete without my mate. "Where are you?" I was thinking. I heard a knock. "Adam, are you free?" Sarah asked. She was my temporary girl. I knew she was in love with me and wanted to be the Luna, but I could not bring myself to do it. She is not the one. "How can I help you, Sarah?" I asked and sat down in my chair. She comes to me and sits at my desk. "I thought I could help you. You are so stressed, working so hard." She said and came closer to kiss me. I kissed her back, but when she tried to get in my pants I stopped her. "Sarah, I’m not in the mood right now. I have a lot of work to do. You should go." She stood up, I saw, she was offended and angry. "You know, lately you are never in the mood, I am getting tired of it." And with that, she left. She just passed Marcus, my beta, almost bumping into him. "Hey, hey, slowly Sarah!" Marcus said. He stepped in and closed the door. "What’s wrong?" Marcus asked me. "The same old story..." I said. He knew everything about my relationship with her. "Oh….I see. You know what? We should go out. Have a drink, and maybe find some new hot chicks to have fun with." He laughs. "I am not interested in hot chicks. Even Sarah is too much for me." I laughed at him. "Okay, then hot babes only for me." He winked at me. "Come on bro! We deserved a night out!" "Fine, let’s go." I’ve agreed. It’s been a long time since we had fun with my beta. ------------------------------------- Marcus was driving to the closest human town. Sometimes we came here for a night out, but we were aware that not only humans were living in it. We had to be careful, not only with humans but with other creatures as well, like vampires—our biggest enemy. We have been at war for a thousand years now with each other. I do not even know how it began, but since I am aware of my mind, I know that they are evil, disgusting creatures. We were on Mainland Street when I smelled it. "Stop! Marcus stop the car!" I yelled at my beta. "What the bloody hell?" He stopped by. " Do you feel this? This scent? Like an apple pie?" I asked him. He sniffed at the air and shook his head. "No, I do not feel anything." I jumped out of the car and followed the scent. I walked to the corner and stopped in front of the restaurant. "Hey, wait for me!" He ran after me. "Are you hungry for an apple pie? You never eat desserts." He laughed at me. "Mate! It’s our mate in there! Go!" Cedric, my wolf said. He was so excited and happy. I was amazed. Can it be true? "We have to go inside. It’s my mate in there!" I said to Marcus and with that, I entered the restaurant. "What? Our Luna?" He asked and followed me. It was a small restaurant when we stepped in. It was bright and cozy with small booths and tables and it was almost full. I looked around searching for her, but she was nowhere to see. "Are you sure Cedric? I do not see her." Maybe I want my Luna so much that now I am starting to hallucinate? " Yes, she is here! I can feel her, trust me." "Where is she?" Marcus asked me. "I have not seen her yet. Come!" I told him and went to the corner booth. A teenage waitress came to us instantly. "Hello gentlemen, what can I get for you?" "Do you have an apple pie?" Marcus asked. "Yes, Clara is making the best in the town. You should try it." she said. "Then bring us two and a coffee as well." Marcus ordered and she left. I was searching for her with my eyes until the waitress came with our order. "If you need anything else, please let me know." And she left. I looked at Marcus and said "I’m not gonna leave until I find her. " "Okay, don’t worry, we will, we will find her." He looked at me with concerned eyes. The pie in front of me was hot and smelled fantastic. When I tasted it, it was like heaven. "Oh my god!" I said, "is every pie like this?" Marcus smiled at me. "No, I think this one is special." With three more bites, my plate was empty. "I need more of these." I said mainly to myself. I stood and went to the counter. "Sorry, do you have more of these apple pies?" I asked the waitress. "Unfortunately not. They were the last two I served. I am sorry, but if you come back tomorrow there will be plenty." She smiled. At that moment, the kitchen door opened and there she was. She was gorgeous and tall, her black hair was pinned on the top of her head in a messy bun. Her eyes shined, and her smile. Oh, that smile. I felt that my heart just grew in my chest, I felt warm and happy. My wolf was jumping for joy. "Mate! She is our mate!" I almost could not hold back Cedric, he wanted to come out. I barely held myself so I put him behind the wall to speak to her. "Hi Clara!" "Hi…do I know you?" She asked. Her voice made me feel warm and calm. I felt that she was human, but I did not care. I finally found her! "No, not yet, but I would be honored if you could join me for dinner so we could get to know each other." I told her in my most charming voice and smiled at her. She froze for a moment and looked around. The teenage waitress grinned at her. "Say yes!" she whispered. "You’re inviting me for a date now?" She asked with big eyes. Maybe I was too direct? "Yes, I am." I smiled. "Or maybe a coffee if you're not hungry." I would give anything to spend some time with her. "Can I ask your name first of all?" She asked. Right…she does not even know my name. Fool of me. "Sorry, of course. My name is Adam. Adam Declare." I introduced myself and extended my hand for a handshake. "I am Claire Bennet, but you already knew it somehow." When her hand met mine, I thought I would feel a soft warm hand, but when she touched mine it was like a lightning strike and not in a good way, so I took away my hand immediately. "Oh sorry, it must be me. I have this talent for giving an electric shock to some people." She said with a little chuckle in her voice. "Nothing happened." I smiled at her – "So…" "Mr. Declare, I appreciate your offer, but I am afraid I can not accept. It was a long day and I am very tired. All I crave right now is a hot bath and my bed." My heart sunk in disappointment but I could not force her, of course…or maybe I could kidnap her? No...I can not, I am not a caveman... "I understand. Maybe next time." I did not even wait for her answer, just headed to Marcus. "Come on, we are going." I left some money and headed to the door. Marcus looked at the ladies, bowed to them, and followed. "Hey Adam, wait! Are you okay?" He asked me outside. "No, I am not." With every step, it was harder to be far away from her. "She rejected you and she is human. She does not even know what a mate bond is. God, she is going to freak out" He laughed at me. "Yeah, you quite summarized it." Cedric broke through the wall and yelled at me. "What are you doing? Go back! Don’t give up on her!" "I am not giving up, but I can not force her! Do not make it any harder!" I yelled back. "Sorry bro, but I have to go home now." I told Marcus. "Sure, let’s go home." With that, we went back to the car and left. ................................... Back at home, I was lying in my bed and all I could think about was her. I’ve played her voice in my head a thousand times now when Sarah entered my room. She sneaked to my bed and laid next to me. "Sarah…did I call you to come to my bed?" I asked her. She was nothing like Claire. I can not even imagine being with anybody else except her. "No, but I thought…" And she kissed my jaw. "Do not think of anything. Leave my bed and room now, and do not come back anymore." I said to her with a serious tone. "Are you breaking up with me?" She screamed at me. "Do not yell at me and yes, I am." I looked at her. "Now, leave." I had to use my alpha tone. I was annoyed. She jumped out of my bed and left. She cried.
