Chapter 21
Welcome Home Moaned the Wind
It was midday on the day that the two men arrived at Cougar rock, and they stopped just outside town. The road into town had a large ponderosa pine in it, at the edge of town, and one needed to go around it to enter Cougar Rock. Tony and Talon shook hands there and the deal was finished. Tony had a map drawn on a small piece of doeskin that he gave to Talon. He was sad that in the very best of conditions, he would not see Talon for at least two years, but he admired him for his bravery.
Talon watched Tony ride out of sight before he turned the large paint in the direction of town and bumped his flanks.
Talon rode through Cougar Rock until he came to the general store. Tony had told him to ask the owner for credit in his name to get a grubstake. T
