CHAPTER FOUR

1155 Words
Diana: My eyes fluttered open, and I heard the rooster's crow. I got up and went out of the room. The air vibrated with the aroma of sizzling bacon, its smoky scent mingling with the sweet perfume of ripe mangoes and the earthy fragrance of freshly brewed coffee. I turned to the dining table and saw the food already prepared. "Let's have breakfast," he said, holding a soup bowl. I felt something strange when I saw him. He was shirtless again, wearing only white shorts. The muscles in his arms and shoulders rippled as he moved, the sun glinting off the sweat on his skin. His white shorts barely contained the power in his legs I suddenly remembered what happened last night, and a mix of emotions washed over me. I wanted to be angry, annoyed, and attack him, but there was something different I felt, desire and longing overwhelmed me because his muscular and gentle body and face were freely available to my eyes. I stopped myself because what was happening to me wasn't right. "Stay away from me," I said to him seriously. He furrowed his brow. "Huh? Why?" "Is that the reward for saving me? Huh? To steal my dignity?" I said, my eyes wide, my voice betraying my anger and annoyance. "W-what do you mean?" he asked, confused. "Just forget it! We're quits! Forget that anything happened, and I'll forget everything that happened in this house," I said seriously before leaving. He's so annoying! Rude! Unmannered! A pervert! I walked away from that house. I didn't know the way, but the important thing was to get away from him. I had gone some distance, but I suddenly stopped when I felt something strange around me. The sound of trees swaying in the wind. All I could see was green, and there seemed to be no footprints or visible path. I felt footsteps, so I quickly hid and looked for where they were coming from. I saw five men walking calmly, carrying bows and spears. I suddenly heard the fall of a bird from above, an arrow in its neck. One of them also speared a poor goat. I realized they were hunters and they were among those who disturbed the forest. They had killed many of our kind and had caused much harm. They had been sought for a long time, to find their hideout and end their disturbance and killing of our kind. They had also captured many of our companions. I thought this was my chance to find their hideout and who their leader was. After they caught the animals, they continued walking. I followed them cautiously, and after we had gone some distance, I stopped at a large tree. I felt like they noticed someone following them, so they slowly looked around. I felt them walking towards me, so I prepared myself for what might happen. I didn't move for a moment, but I was surprised when someone suddenly grabbed my shoulder. "I got you!" he shouted, laughing loudly. His face was frightening, his eyes seemed to have grown larger, his teeth were countable, and his beard was thick. His other companions quickly approached, they pushed me to the center and surrounded me. "Looks like we caught a beautiful lady! We're so lucky today!" one of them said happily, looking like a combination of a monkey and an elephant. Their laughter was a coarse, grating sound that scraped against my eardrums, a cacophony of harsh vowels and guttural chuckles that forced me to clamp my hands over my ears. Despite my fear and worry that this might be my last day, I didn't let them see it. I wasn't good at fighting because I didn't learn how to fight even though Dad and Grandad offered me many good trainers. But I knew a little about how to defend myself in situations like this. What the fxck! I was surprised when one of them suddenly charged at me, and luckily I dodged. Another one charged, but I grabbed his hand, kicked his foot, and pushed him away. Oh holyshey! This is what it feels like when you face your enemies! He smirked and charged at me again, but I backed away, then moved forward and kicked him, causing him to fall. I wanted to transform, but the sun was still shining brightly. I saw a thick branch, so I took it and faced the ugly people. They took out their weapons, two with spears, one with a bow, and two with knives. "That's what we like about our prey, they fight first before they're finally caught!" one said. "She's mine if I catch her!" another said. "Don't get your hopes up because I'm the one who'll catch that beautiful lady!" said another. "Tsk! As if you'll catch me! You can't even touch me, and now you're hoping to let alone catch me?!" I joked to them, even though I was terrified at that moment. They prepared themselves and were about to charge at me at the same time when something seemed to fly from behind and landed on my right side, causing them to stop. Whut the~?! FRANKSEN? He looked at me, gave me a smile, and a wink. "Who are you? And why are you interfering here?" the one who looked like a turtle said angrily. "Don't you dare hurt my wife, or I'll kill you," he said annoyingly, so I glared at him. "You meddler! Kill him!" The hunters charged, so Fransken fought them. I noticed one charging from behind Franksen, so I quickly pulled him and fought him until he fell. I also charged at another one and scratched his neck to injure him. A while later, they were all lying on the ground. He came to me. "Are you okay?" he asked. I just nodded in response. "I'm leaving," I said to him rudely. But we felt something coming, so he pulled me away and stopped at a tree. "There are many evil creatures scattered around here, so I'm sure you're not safe if you walk around alone," he said. "I can defend myself," I insisted. "Pff! Do you think you'd still be alive now if I hadn't saved you from them?" "So I have to thank you? And what's the price again? Huh?" I said quickly, causing him to fall silent. I was about to speak again when he suddenly covered my mouth and pushed me against the trunk of the tree. I furrowed my brow, so he pointed at something, and I looked at it. We saw many hunters walking on the other side, and they were startled when they suddenly saw their companions lying on the ground. "Let's get out of here before they catch us," he said, pulling me away. We quickly went to his house, and when we got there, I stayed outside because I didn't want to go in.
