Chapter 11

Chapter 11Skylar’s pov

I loved how much Tia knew me. I couldn’t wait for the day to be over, so I could go and see her. I loved her living next to me. I could defiantly see a future with her.

I met with Derek today about how the construction is going, and his vision for it. I really like him. He cares about this charity, and it shows. He’s a really nice guy. I can tell he loves Layla a lot.

What I don’t think he sees is that she’s in love with him too. She actually gave me her approval which meant a lot to me. She is close to Tia so hearing her say I was good for her meant a lot to me. Derek told me about Layla’s ex getting out of prison. He is really worried about her.

I asked Tia about it, and she told me some but couldn’t tell me everything. I promised Tia that while I was around, I would make sure Layla was safe. She seems worried about her as well. I told Tia she wasn’t alone anymore. If that meant I needed to protect her best friend, then that’s what I’ll do. I’d do anything for her.

Once I was finished up setting up everything with Derek and Layla, I told them I would be back in the morning with my ideas. We have already broke ground and tore down the old buildings. They just weren’t safe, so I wanted to start fresh. I wasn’t going to take a paycheck for this job. I was donating my time as well as everything else. Tia believed in this charity, and so did I. I wasn’t rich, but I could donate my time. I was going to make this a beautiful safe place for these families.

After talking with some of the women that has been through hell, I felt a sense of responsibilities to them. This to me wasn’t just some job. A few of my men refused to work on this job with no pay. They were the ones that kept putting down Tia. I didn’t want people like that working for me, so I fired them. Tia made me want to be a better man. I am making some changes in my life.

I want men I can trust working by my side I wasn’t going to let anyone bring me or my company down. I want Tia and Deacon to be a part of my future so anyone working for me will respect her or they have to go. I was done letting people walk all over me or the girl I love. I also wanted to continue to give back to the community as well. I am doing every thing I can to be a better man not only for Tia and Deacon but for myself and my family as well.

My family has seen a change in my and they love Tia and Deacon so that makes it easy. She now has this extended family that would do anything for her. Tia doesn’t have any family, so I wanted to impress her best friend Layla because she is the closet thing to family and I really wanted her approval. I loved Tia and I just wanted her to know the kind of man I truly am.
