Chapter 17

Chapter 17Skylar’s pov

I was pacing back and forth waiting for Derek to call. Deacon was fussy, and I couldn’t calm him down. He missed Tia just as much as I did. I knew something was wrong. Tia would never leave Deacon this long. What would happen to him if she was gone?

I hated thinking like that, but I loved the lil man and needed to worry about him as well. I called his home nurse to see if she could come and help. She said she would be happy too. I wanted to make sure Deacon was safe. Then I could focus on Tia. My phone went off, so I hurried to answer it.

“Hey Derek, have you heard anything?”

“Steve the guy I had watching them is dead. I don’t know where the girls are, but I know that Layla’s ex has to have them. Is there any way you can get here? We need to come up with a plan.”

I heard how bad Layla’s ex was from Tia. I knew he could kill both of them, and not think twice about it. To say I was scared would be a huge understatement.

“Yea the nurse is on her way to pick up Deacon and take him to her home where he will be safe. Then I will be there. We need to find them Derek.”

“Yea man I know. I have Oliver here as well. We will get our women back safe.”

“I really hope so man I can’t live without Tia.”

“I know what you mean I am not me without Layla.”

I hung up and packed some of Deacon’s things. I didn’t want him here because I wasn’t sure it was safe for him. I followed the nurse to her home to make sure no one would follow her. I was not going to risk Deacon’s safety. I would take care of him and keep him safe.

Once I got them safely inside, I hurried to get to Derek’s security office. When I got there, I called Derek and told him I was there. Layla’s Brother Oliver came out and walked me in. We walked into a board room, and I felt like I was in the military. They had pictures up of both the girls and of Layla ex on a board.

“Hey Skylar thanks for getting here so fast.”

“Derek feel me in on what you know.”

“Well honestly I don’t know much. I called Steve and a doctor answered telling me he was dead. A few people said they saw our girls getting into a car with some guy. I don’t get why they would go with some stranger.”

“There is no way they would do that.”

“I just don’t get it.”

“The only way they would go is if they thought he worked for you, but even that doesn’t make sense.”

“Unless this man told them Deacon was hurt, or that we were hurt. That’s the only thing that makes any sense.”

“Some bastard took our girls by saying we were hurt? I am going to kill this fucker when I find him.”

I couldn’t believe this has happened. I should have been with Tia. I could tell Derek felt the same way. We needed to find out girls. Layla’s brother Oliver couldn’t stop crying. Not only was his sister missing, but he now had a friend dead. Life changes in an instant. Can we get to our girls in time?
