Accalia
To say I am still pissed off, would be an understatement of the year. Normally, going to the mall to shop is one of my favorite things to do, but the thought of him grabbing my arm has caused an undulated amount of rage to run through me. If it wasn’t for my pack-mates calming me down, Micheal would have been one dead wolf. Being an alpha meant that I had one hell of a temper, and there’s just something’s you don't do; grab me aggressively is high on that list. If I see him again before I have a sit down with his father, he is dead.
“AJ you need to calm down, your making everyone nervous” Lucas said to me causing me to look up from the burger and fries that I hardly even touched. The ranking members of my pack were all looking at me as if I was about to do something crazy such as shape-shift into a wolf and track Micheal down. They all seen me get into the car and take the high road, which wasn't my style, so they can all take a chill pill and leave me alone. I sort of understand where they are coming from though. A few years back we all had snuck into a club in Allentown and a guy couldn’t take no for an answer. He grabbed me and ended up in the hospital in the intensive care unit. My father was pissed, but also proud. He didn't know how to fully react because I was sixteen at the time but now I think that I have grown a lot since then.
“Guys I’m fine, I'll put it out of my mind until I speak to Alpha Darius about Micheal” I said as I picked up my drink and took a sip. “Now if he doesn’t do anything about it, then is when you should worry” they all chuckled even though they knew that I was not joking. I can be brutal when I need to be.
The mall was pretty packed today, especially for a Sunday. Then again classes starts tomorrow and everyone is in need of school supplies and clothes. Good thing we already got the majority of our stuff before so we just need to pick up a few things. I had made sure that I bought some stuff for Sharon. Due to the fact that she wasn’t born in our pack, she and her parents still can't get used to how well we treat our omegas but I hope that she will soon realize that just because she an omega, that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t deserve respect and love.
Lucas and Tasha were talking about their start up training sessions for the pack tomorrow and what it will entail, while Mason was checking the email detailing getting around in Savannah. Jessica, she was discussing cybersecurity with Garrett. My ranking members all had their different role in the pack with Lucas being my second and Tasha as the third in command. Mason, the delta, was more like my assistant because he dealt with all of my scheduling and messages. My father hired Garrett as cybersecurity, so he is the only one that has taken his place in the actual pack back home already. The human was the first to be already working with the pack, life is crazy. Jessica is studying law so she could be in charge of the legal matters for both the pack and the pack’s business. Then there’s me, even though I’m in school for art I will be taking over my dad’s companies and the pack once he retires. The only people we're missing is Lucas' twin sister and younger brother because they were off doing their specific training. As you can see, our future was all planned out for us but that is just how life is when you're the children of high-ranking members of wolf packs.
I could really use a real stiff drink I thought, as I looked down at my cup of mango smoothie. Normally the fruity deliciousness can make my mood better but this time it didn’t help. Suddenly, Mason's head went up as his blue eyes glowed bright yellow. This immediately caught my attention as his wolf came to the surface. He inhaled a long breath and whispered the words “mate”. If it wasn't for our enhanced abilities none of us would have heard him. We all looked up at him with shock and surprise. Really! Mason and I were the only two in our little ranked group in Savannah who wasn’t mated. I guess that now it's only down to me and I now have to deal with another lovey couple. As reality sets in that I am the only mateless on in the group, I let out a sigh of frustration which can be viewed as unhappiness but let me assure you that I’m very happy for Mason.
As Mason jumped out of his seat, he took in another deep breath which caused a lot of people to stare at us.
“Dude, chill out! Your causing a bit of a scene” Lucas said giving him a low growl.
“I have to find her” Mason said with glowing eyes. It was quite clear that he is still unable to control his emotions.
“Stop and calm down.” I commanded in my Alpha voice. Hearing this tone caused him to stop in his tracks, turned around and bow his head to me. I know my eyes had turned from their normal hazel to bright gold, the colors of an alpha. The power and rank of a wolf can be seen through the eyes. Alphas were gold, higher-ups were yellow while the rest were orange. Omegas had a light shade of orange also. Even in Mason's mate-crazed frenzy, he couldn’t resist the command of his alpha.
“Accalia please” he pleaded to call me by my name now that we were out in public. “ I want...” I held up my hand to quiet him before he could finish. I could feel my eyes slowly going back to normal and so did his.
“We are going to all calmly get up and go look for your mate, Mason. We are not going to make a scene.” The Order and Grace would have a hissy fit if they had to come to cover up a mess we made from exposure and would surely kick us out of the program. The smile returned to Mason's face once I said that we would go looking for his mate so he just nodded. He then turned around to follow the scent and we all just casually got up to followed him. Jessica and Tessa were both going on about how cute it is that Mason found his mate and how excited they were to meet them.
“You okay?” Lucas said through the mind link.
“I’m fine Lu, I’m happy for mason” I replied hiding my slight irritation at our situation.
“Don’t worryAJ, you're going to find your mate soon, guaranteed. We need another guy around her ASAP because there are more girls then guys now” He joked. This made me smile.
“How do you know its a girl, it could very well be a dude.” I teased.
“Oh you think Mase bats for the other team?” I could hear him behind me trying not to laugh.
“ You never know” I said and ended the mind link.
For werewolves and almost all shifters, your mate is perfectly made for you. In most cases, from the moment we find our mates they becomes everything to us. It's a love at first sight kinda deal. That's what I've heard and seen from my friends and family. Some even said that the stronger the wolf, the stronger the pull and need. There are also some cases where they can resist the pull and reject the advancing mates. It's rumored that that's the worse pain imaginable. A coppery scent in the air pulled me out of my thoughts about mates. I looked back at my pack members and saw that they smelled it too, it was blood.
“My mates are in trouble” Mason said before taking off in a run with us following in pursuit.
**********
The smell of blood is thick in the air, but we were able to follow it outside of the mall and into an ally beside the mall coved by a shadow. I was not expecting to see something like this today and I could only imagine what was going through Mason's mind. The sight of a young girl, maybe a few years younger than I was, being fed on before our eyes. Mason let out a menacing growl causing the man's head to pop up from the girl's neck. His eyes were jet black, head completely shaven with a tattoo of a snake going up the back of his neck with the snake face on his head. He grinned showing us his two long fangs pointing out. He's a vampire. There was something connected to his fangs that looked like some kind of grill. I sniffed the air and behind the smell of the blood, I could smelled death and decay. This wasn’t pure blood, he was a turned vampire. Mason's growl became even loader as his wolf pushed to the surface.
“Do not shift” I order in my alpha voice before he could react. Mason was forced to obey but he still gave his wolf the rails and that was perfectly fine with me. I crunched down ready to jump in and behind me, I could feel my pack getting ready to move as well. I knew Lucas would have already mind-linked all of the pack members to get to the mall as soon as they could.
“Stay back Garrett” I heard Tessa say with a growl, as the humans finally caught up. Tessa was useless when Garretts around because her mind would be solely focused on her mate, especially when being this close to danger. Lucas didn't have that issue because Jessica was strong. He had trained her hard for years ever since they started to mate. Honestly, I could kill this vampire without any problems because I was an alpha and he was a turned blood vampire. If he was pure blood it might be a little more difficult but with a turned blood, I didn’t even need to shift. The only problem is the girl is in the way and she was quickly fading.
“Let her go” I ordered.
“Oh! I don't think so” he said as he lifts her up so that she's facing us with his hands on her throat. “I’m not stupid enough to think that I can stand a chance against an alpha. And from the way that boy was growling at me, she must mean something to him. As soon as I let her go he's going to pounce.” The vampire must have some years on him thinking the situation through.
“If she dies we'll rip you apart piece by piece” I said.
“The rumors about you are true, Accalia. You are deadly, smart and beautiful all in one.” His smirk caused us all to gasp in surprise. This bloodsucker knew my name and in our moment of surprise, he threw the girl at Mason. He also threw something in the air that gave off a crazy blinding light. We couldn’t see a thing for a few seconds but that's all the time that he needed. The vampire took that opportunity with those two distractions and made his move. He must have used his vampire speed to get up the wall behind us. When we finally got our sight back, the vampire was standing directly in front of Garrett causing Tessa to lunge at him without even thinking. The vampire just smiled and winked at Garret then toke off in a blur of speed. I was in complete shock because as a turned blood vampire, he shouldn’t have been able to stand the beaming sun that was shining outside. This goes against the laws of nature and the only thing that can help him do that is magic. A growl escaped my lips. My wolf wanted to chase him down but I needed to stay in control of the situation at hand.
“Lucas and Jessica, go after him now” I ordered as I looked at Tessa who was looking over her mate. “Tessa” I yelled, “Garret is fine so I need you to make sure no one saw what happened and if they did, hold them and contact the Order and call for an ambulance now.” They all obeyed my order without question. I turned to Mason who was cradling the bloody girl, he had already ripped off his shirt and held it against her neck to stop the bleeding. His complete focused was on her. Then I did something that I don't normally like to do. I reached for the magic inside of me and let it flow through my body. I could feel Diana raising her head as she always felt a surge of energy when I reach for my magic. Now that my magic was coursing through my body, I was fully aware of the magical residue around me. In my human form, I couldn’t sense magic that well unless it was powerful. Mostly because magic didn’t affect shifters useless it was strong. I looked at the girl and I could sense energy from nature itself flowing into her. I walked over to her and pushed back her short dark brown hair which revealed that her ears were a little pointy. s**t, she a half-ling,which is half-fae and half-human. No wonder the vampire attacked her. To them, Fae blood was the most desirable kind of blood to drink. As I looked at her neck, I saw that there was dark magic oozing out of it, and I can’t try and heal it. I mean that I've never done a healing spell before. I've seen my mom do it but that was only for minor injuries. I told Mason via mind link everything that I was thinking since we had a crowd of people now. I knew the Order would want to talk to me seeing that I’m the alpha and one of the twelve that are in charge of Savannah. He will need all the information to give to the doctors and I know that he wouldn’t want to leave her side.
I used magic to prevent her from losing any more blood but couldn’t close the wound. Thankfully she had passed out and not enduring any pain. Thank god her heart is still beating.
An ambulance that were part of a supernatural medical division that catered to us specifically, came in less than five minutes. I had to pull the whole "I’m alpha Accalia Johnson" for them to allow both Mason to ride with them. I was on the passenger side while Mason was in the back with her. The paramedics didn’t need me to use my magic anymore, but they said I may have saved her life. I closed my eyes and send out a mental picture of the vampire to every member of my pack in Savannah, something only the most powerful of alphas could do. I also issued a command “he attack the mate of the delta so hunt this blood sucker down.” I also sent a message to a member of my pack who happens to be a sketch artist and told him to draw a picture of the man.
As soon as we got to the hospital and I step out of the ambulance the strong scent of cinnamon and Pine hit me which immediately brought my thoughts to Christmas. Diana rose to the surface tugging for my attention but I pushed her down. I needed to focus on helping my new possible pack member. We follow the Paramedics inside and the smell just got stronger and stronger driving both Diana and I crazy. I couldn’t focus anymore, I needed to find that heavenly smell no matter what. The gurney was suddenly grabbed by a doctor and the scent hit me full blast revealing the scent that was driving both my wolf and I crazy. I looked up to see the most gorgeous man I ever laid eyes on. With his smooth carmel brown skin, dark brown eyes that looked so kind and sweet, broad shoulders, a jawline that carried his short beard that connected his mustache cut down to the perfect length making him so handsome. His short hair had what they call “waves”. I never understood the big deal about them till I saw them on this man. Even under his baggy scrubs, I could tell he had some kind of a muscular frame. “MATE” Diana howled in my mind. I could hardly make out the words Mason was saying to the man, but my eyes hand travelled directly to his lips. As they moved in a rhythmic movement, I was so mesmerized that I swore that I heard them calling me to come and get a taste. As he was about to head out with the other doctors, on pure instinct I grabbed his arms and looked at him with my ever glowing eyes. A ting of electricity and butterflies rang throughout my body from just touching this man's jacket. I could only imagine how it would feel if our skin made contact, he turned to look at me with recognition and the only word that came out from my mouth in a growl is “MINE.”
