Chapter 5

"Doctor Raymond?" He looked a bit surprised to see her there. "Oh, my princess, what are you doing here at this time?" Jen gave a small smile and said, "It's nothing important, I'm here to see my uncle." "Oh, goodnight then. I will take my leave now," Doctor Raymond said, bowing slightly before leaving. After the doctor left, Jen went inside the office, where she found General Xander sitting back in his chair, relaxing with his eyes closed. A sudden anger and resentment rose from her heart as she saw his face. "So, he's here relaxing while his brother isn't even buried yet," she said angrily in her mind. "General Xander," she said, not even wanting to call him "uncle." He didn't deserve to be called that. Recognizing the voice, a slight grin appeared on his face. He slowly opened his eyes and sat upright. "Hello, Jen," he said. "Why did you do it?" she asked in a serious tone. Unbothered and uninterested in what she was talking about, he asked casually, "Do what?" Jen had planned to keep her cool, but seeing his unbothered look pushed her to the edge. She ended up having an outburst. "Why did you kill my parents? Why!" she exclaimed. Although he was shocked, he didn't show it. He calmly looked at her. "Why did you have to kill them? Is it worth the throne?" Jen asked, her voice shaking with anger. General Xander stood up from his chair and gave her a death stare. Jen snorted and said, "Do you think that's scaring me? You have to do a whole lot more than that." "Watch your tone!" he snapped. "I'm still your uncle, after all. Don't make me make such accusations that will land you in trouble." His voice was firm and steady. "Oh, I'm making up accusations? I know that you've been planning to take away the throne from my father, but killing him... wow, Xander." She pointed at him with red eyes. "But don't worry, I will make sure you get what you really deserve." She kicked off the chair and left. Angry and scared at the same time, General Xander called his "special" guards. "Follow her and make sure she doesn't see the sunrise in the morning." Jen quickly made it out of the Blackwood forest and was now walking in the Shadowwood forest. As she walked, tears welled up in her eyes. She leaned against a tree and started sobbing. While sobbing, the energy of the forest changed. Alerted, she used her sensing ability. Not far away, she could feel danger approaching. In her mind, she cursed. "I swear I will kill that man once I get my hands on him." Of course, she knew who sent them. Her uncle would do anything to silence her. If she were able to use her powers, she would have waited for them and killed whoever came in her way. But for now, she had to run for it. Sensing the danger getting closer and closer, she looked back and saw four men in black jumping from tree to tree. Of course, they weren't called "special" for no reason. They all had supernatural powers and were far stronger than Jen. She knew they were not ordinary people, so she increased her speed. She only ran for a short distance before returning to her normal human speed. Panting heavily, she slowed down for a bit. She was planning on returning home, but the palace was too far from where she was, so instead, she headed to her practicing spot. The guards were faster than she had thought. Within seconds, they were already behind her, shooting arrows at her. Shocked and terrified for her life, she tried to run faster, but there was no difference. Up ahead, there was a cliff. With no trees around it, the guards had to get down and chase her on the ground, which gave her an advantage to hide. Down the hill was a set of rocks, but she wasn't stupid enough to hide there, because that would be the first place they would look. Instead of hiding, she ran around the cliff until she thought she had lost them. She stopped for a little bit before running again. After running for quite some time, she stopped to catch her breath and hid behind a tree. With her forehead sweating and her legs aching from running that long, she became scared. "I have to get out of the forest now," she thought. But looking around, although she was very familiar with this forest, she wasn't sure where she was. She had never been to that side before. Not far ahead, she saw a light. She wasn't sure what it was, but she had to go and find out. Maybe she might find help. As she got closer, she saw a farm with a house. Delighted, she started walking towards it. But as she took a step forward, the two guards appeared not far from her. Stunned, she quickly turned to the other side to escape, but another two men appeared. With nowhere to escape, Jen closed her eyes. The guards took out their arrows, but this time it was different. The arrows were on fire, which was a shocker to Jen. "How did they do that?" she thought. "Oh, Lord, please help. This is my only hope," she prayed. She decided to try the agility dodge move. Even though she hadn't mastered it yet, it was her only choice. With her eyes closed, she repeated the text from the book: "Find your angle. Focus your eyes on the prey. Feel the beat of your heart as it guides you." With a fast-beating heart, she came into realization about what she had been doing wrong. "That's it! Listen to your heart as it guides you." All she to do was needed to understand and follow the pace of her heart. She was running out of time, as the arrows were already aimed at her, ready to be released. She took a deep breath in listening to the beat of her heart and counting, " 1,2,3,1,2,3" After that she muttered the words quickly, just as the guards released their arrows at the same time. "Find your angle. Focus your eyes on the prey. Feel the beat of your heart as it guides you. Run!" Fast as she could imagine, she was sprinting like a cheetah, dodging the arrows and escaping. But unfortunately, the effect didn't last long. At least she escaped, right? As the effects wore off, her legs started to feel heavy. With a short breath, she fell down. She didn't get up immediately; she wanted to restore her energy before trying to get up.
