02| Suddenly Attacked (Running Away?)

1818 Words
Five horses with a formidable warrior on it, walked beside the dark lord's horse carrying a filthy girl. She was Arabelle Foley, a slave bought by their King at auction. He embraced her like a Queen, which was strange because it was out of Alexander's habit. The soldiers still didn't understand why their King suddenly decided to buy a human slave. Now, they were annoyed that they hadn't brought enough tents for Arabelle to stay in. "Your Majesty, is our journey still long? My back feels like it's going to break..." Arabelle asked. She also wondered why these werewolves were riding horses if they could run at lightning speed, it was confusing. They had spent hours on horseback, Arabelle looked so tired because she sat on the horse for almost the whole day without resting. If only horses could talk, they would have cursed loudly in front of the face of the King of Morthesc who had been very willing to spur the poor animal endlessly. Alexander raised his fist. "Stop. We'll rest here." He said without argument. Arabelle wore an expression of disbelief as her complaint of wanting to rest was answered so easily. "Yes, Your Majesty." The soldiers obediently said and hurried over to unload the bags of equipment to make a simple tent. After giving his orders, Alexander dismounted his horse near a shady banyan tree with 5 other horses. Then he dismounted. Arabelle swallowed hard when she found that the distance between herself and the ground was high enough to jump over without dislocating her leg, the possibility was there and Arabelle was afraid. Alexander frowned at Arabelle who did not get off the horse. "What are you waiting for?" Arabelle shook her head. "Then what? Get off quickly." Alex said. Arabelle's legs began to move, looking for the foothold that Alex had previously used to get off, but her legs were too short to fully tread and she was too afraid to tilt her body even lower. "Where are the footholds...?" Alexander sighed heavily, dealing with weaklings was exhausting, they had only spent a few hours together, and even then it had been silent. But what else could it be, Alexander needed Arabelle, he would defend the girl at all costs. "Your Majesty, I-" Arabelle's sentence hung in the air as Alexander held out both hands. "W-what is Your Majesty doing?" "Let me help." Arabelle shook her head quickly, "N-no need, I... I can do it myself. Your Majesty, It's okay, i'm fine." Not wanting to be pushy, Alexander pulled back his hands and resisted the urge to help. Arabelle tightened her grip on the horse's reins, but still failed. She changed strategy and began to hug the black stallion's neck, hoping her legs would drop even lower as she closed her eyes. "Oh my God, where did that foothold go, why can't I reach it..." Arabelle mumbled with her eyes closed, afraid she would fall if she looked down too long. Alexander felt anxious watching Arabelle's feet that kept failing to reach the foothold. Grab. Arabelle's eyes bulged as her legs were grabbed suddenly, then she could feel her legs being directed backwards and finally she could feel the iron foothold. "Next time, open those beautiful eyes of yours and see the foothild directly." Alex said while gently releasing Arabelle's feet, as if they were fragile valuables. "I-I'm afraid of heights..." Arabelle said softly. Alexander held out his right hand, "You're not, you're just afraid of falling. Give me your hand, I won't let you fall." Deg. Deg. Deg. Arabelle's heart suddenly beat fast, she almost forgot that the person standing in front of her now was a cold-blooded creature that could make her die without a trace at any time. No, her neck was crawling just thinking about it. "Your Majesty, the tents have been set up, you may rest soon." Said one of his guards. Alexander nodded, "You guys get some rest too." "Yes, Your Majesty, thank you." Alexander looked back at Arabelle who was still pensive on the horse. This wasn't the first time, she often daydreamed and Alex always had trouble reading her thoughts. She bloked the access. "Don't daydream too much, it's not good." Alex patted Arabelle's knee lightly. "Your Majesty, I have a question-" Arabelle gasped as Alex grabbed Arabelle's waist suddenly, then he lifted her gently and lowered her carefully. "That surprised me a lot just now," she said. Alexander turned around, "Whatever you want to ask. We'll talk about it in the tent." He said as he walked away. Arabelle was silent for a while as she clutched her chest, "Am I so thin that he could easily carry me down from the horse?" She thought. A moment later she realized that the guards were looking at her sharply and intently. "I think they want to eat me alive." Arabelle muttered to herself and hurried to catch up with Alexander. Suddenly Alex turned around with a panicked expression. "Stay there!" His shout startled Arabelle. With a confused expression Arabelle stopped and, Whuuuus... An arrow flashed right in front of Arabelle's eyes with a distance of only one fist. Arabelle's body froze, fear, surprise and confusion rolled into one. "Calm down." Whispered Alexander who immediately moved as fast as lightning to Arabelle and held her tightly. Warm. That's what Arabelle felt. "Protect our King!" Another arrow managed to silence one of the guards and the others rushed to surround their King. They knew that Alex was not easily hurt by a small silver arrow. An Alpha who leads many packs scattered in his country is not a random werewolf, he has strengths that are above the average werewolf in general. He can even retain his human form under the light of a full moon, he can trace the memories of others, erasing their memories with just one small scratch. There are many more powers that Alexander Mavis possesses. But still, they chose to protect their beloved King, the light of their country as a form of loyalty. Arabelle gasped and her body stiffened as she heard the pain-filled groan of the wounded bodyguard. "Your Majesty, he-" "Sssh... Don't look." Alex held Ara's head back from seeing the horrible thing that he and the other four soldiers were seeing. "You're safe, i won't let anyone else hurt you. Just close your eyes." Arabelle closed her eyes with her hands tightly gripping Alexander's clothes, her master. Alexander needs her, So he would keep Arabelle safe beside him. Arabelle is the key. The poor soldier was looking very painful and helpless on the ground "The arrowheads are made of silver Your Majesty." Said another guard while trying to help his friend out of the pain. Silver weapons would make it difficult for teenwolves like them to recover quickly. "This must be the robbers who knew we were coming! Damn it!" He growled. Alex thought bringing in new soldiers who didn't even know their powers would help them train. Turns out he was wrong, he shouldn't have let them cross the border without Ramond, his main knight and confidant or just go alone by his-self. Alex closed his eyes to open his inner eyes and focused on finding the whereabouts of the robbers who must be hiding not far from where they were standing. "West, three men are watching us from behind the bushes. Finish them, it's up to you what you do with them since they attacked first." Alex told them. "You guys should be able to handle them." He added. The remaining 4 soldiers rushed off at a sprint and slowly and split up to surround the 3 people who had injured one of their friends to the point of almost being burned. And they changed slowly into wolf. Their powers were still not fully formed. They would even need Alex's help as Alpha to return to human quickly. They still struggling to control the changes. "Your Majesty, is your injured soldier alright? I can't hear his voice anymore..." Arabelle's voice trembled with fear. "He is fine, he will be fine. I haven't allowed him to die yet." Alex replied. "Now listen to me, on the count of three, after I release this hug, run into the tent and never peek out before I come for you." Arabelle stretched her arms and looked up, staring into the red eyes of the lord of darkness who was often called a monster because he was famous for his ferocity when killing. "Can werewolves die?" "Everything that lives, dies." Alex replied. In his kingdom, Alex was the werewolf with the fastest running power, the sharpest senses and could even read minds etc. But, he always failed to break through Arabelle's mind, even if he managed to enter, Alex could not find anything. "Do you understand? Run and stay in the tent." "Where are you going Your Majesty?" Actually they were still in the land of the human race, but why did Arabelle already feel unsafe even in her own homeland. Everyone was so scary. "I have to do something. You can't get hurt, your blood will be a threat to yourself. So, do as I say." Arabelle did not know much about the werewolves that inhabited the Northern kingdom of Morthesc and now she was on her way there. There was no other way but to try to trust him. Arabelle nodded. "I understand Your Majesty," "Good. 1... 2... 3! Now, run and don't look back!" With such speed Arabelle managed to get into the tent with her breath taken away. After Arabelle left, Alex walked over to his wounded bodyguard. The arrow had been released, leaving a wound that was not too deep. Alex was grateful. "Your Majesty... I..." "Stop talking." Alex placed his palm right on the bodyguard's wound. Not to heal, no. His power didn't work that way, Alex was just making sure that the silver arrowhead didn't go too deep, because if his heart was hit, then his body wouldn't survive. "You will survive, just hold on until we reach the kingdom." It seemed that their journey would not be continued by horse, it would be faster to arrive if they change and run as the fastest creature, as a werewolf. "Just wait a moment, I'll catch up with the others. Those rbbers can't be tolerated, if another human is hit, they could die instantly." Alex said. "Yes, Your Majesty..." The handsome king with a terrifying aura began to emphasize all his strength on his tall legs. Then, he was gone in seconds. As for Arabelle, she sat down filled with fear. "Should I run away or go to the Morthesc kingdom in the north? Humans can't be trusted, can they? If I go the way I came, will Alexander know?" "Luke... Right, I'd better go, maybe i can meet him on the way back. Right?"
