Chapter Three

1408 Words
Kite just watched Lyl run away. It wasn't the first time she went berserk but it sure was the first time she ran away crying. "You made her cry," Lucy put her elbow on Kite's shoulder. "No, I didn't. You did." "Me? Did she cry merely because I called her a kid?" "Erh, yes?" She's such a cry baby, he thought. Why can't she just ignore what Lucy called her? It's not like it's the first time she was called a kid for her height. Does she really have to create an earthquake? "Who was she anyway?" Lucy asked. "Lilac Auberon," Kite cooly answered. Lucy stunned in disbelief. "You're jesting!" "I'm not." "I cannot believe you tried to hit on Lord Auberon's daughter!" she punched his arm. "Not really," Kite then told her the whole story of what really happened before she arrived. "You were gonna say I'm your brother's girlfriend! Darn, you! There's no way I'm dating that nancy bloodsucker!" Lucy scoffed. She then saw Max. "Oh, Max! You're here." "My lady, it is nice to see you again," Max bowed his head. "So you work for the Auberons now?" she asked. "Yes." "That's good to hear— ow! Why'd you do that for?!" Lucy shouted at Kite when he hit her head. "We have to go now. You need to arrange your stuff in the dormitories before the assembly starts. Ask the warden where the theater is. I can't go with you. I need to go visit the doctor for Zeal's medicine." Kite grabbed her luggage and put his other hand in his pocket. "That oaf needs to abstain from garlic." Lucy and Kite headed inside the castle. ~~~ Lyl heard faint noises but her eyes were still closed. "She'll be fine, yes?" "Of course. It's just a mild concussion." "She really hit her head that hard, huh." "I wonder what happened to her. She was crying." "It's none of our business anymore. Let's go now. It's almost time for the assembly." She opened her eyes and arose. Her head ached a little so she groaned in pain. The owners of the voices turned to her. The smell of medicine tells her she's in the infirmary. "She's awake," Sir Grigori approached her. "Why am I here?" she asked, touching the tissue stuck in her nose. "You tripped yourself and hit your head and nose. These gentlemen behind me brought you here." Sir Grigori stepped aside to give her a view of the two people standing behind him. She saw one of the school regents, Dennis Sorath. His face was well-defined, with a sharp jaw and angular cheekbones. He had strong arched brows above his vivid baby blue eyes. His brunet hair was complimenting his fair complexion. He does look good, but his cold demeanor scares away people, save for Lyl and the Corbetts. "Hello, how are you feeling?" Her eyes darted to the person beside Dennis. She has never met the guy before, he must be a new student here. He was tall and thin. His curly hair was white, not bad for his dark skin. His lips were pale and thin and his nose slender and rounded. He looks so pretty, she thought. But what took her breath away was his lustrous pale gray lobes. She was drawn by his eyes. "I'm f-fine," she replied, still looking into his eyes. She found herself beguiled with just the sight of the dandy. "Erh... My name's Arren. And this is Dennis," the pretty boy introduced himself. "We already know each other," Dennis told Arren. "And we ought to leave now. Excuse us, my lady and Sir Grigori," he said as he pulled Arren out. "Get well soon!" Arren smiled at her before leaving. Lyl didn't want them to leave. No, she cared not about Dennis' leaving. She only wished to see Arren much longer. She knocked her head back and laid down. "Careful, my lady," Sir Grigori said as he closed the curtain. ~~~ Kite walked his way to the infirmary after helping Lucy settle in the dorms. He didn't really want to get his brother his medicine. It was his fault even though their mother already warned him. But then his mother would kill him if he just let his brother die of stupidity. Before taking a turn, he heard a laugh. "I wager she's starting to fancy you," a low voice said. "No, she wouldn't. She shouldn't," another voice said. Kite took a turn and saw Dennis with a guy. "Yo!" He waved at Dennis. The guy beside Dennis halted. "Wait, wasn't his hair red just earlier?" "No. This is Kite. The red-haired one is his twin, Zeal," Dennis said. "We met your brother earlier. He looks rather too pale." "Yeah. We offered to bring him to the infirmary but went back to your room immediately," the other guy said. "Fool. Why would he get out?" Kite frowned. "We don't know. You better hurry. Assembly's starting in ten minutes," Dennis and the other guy continued their talk and walked away. That drat! He's sick but risked going out! He hurried his way to the infirmary so he could completely knock his brother's head off. "Sir Greg!" Kite called Sir Grigori as soon as he went in. "What is it now, Corbett?" "My brother's feverish, he's really burning. And my paw, I got this when I touched his forehead," he showed Sir Grigori his hand. Kite just watched Sir Grigori as he applied some gel on his palm. The burning feeling slowly faded. "That's cool," Kite was amazed. "It's just aloe vera gel, boy," Sir Grigori wrapped his hand with bandages. He then went to the potion shelf, searching for Zeal's medicine. "Sir Grigori, may I leave now?" a female voice asked behind the curtains. Sir Grigori didn't seem to have heard her. "Sir???" she asked again and was still ignored. "It seems like we've run out of acetaminophen," Sir Grigori came back and wrote something on his clipboard. The curtain opened and he saw Lyl removing something big and white and b****y from her nose. Kite cringed in disgust. "Yuck, a large red booger," he stepped away. Lyl rolled her eyes. "This isn't booger, lamebrain," she threw it in the trash bin. "Sir Grigori, I'm alright now. I shall take my leave." Sir Grigori finally gave her attention. "Should you feel dizzy and nauseous, come back and I shall check on you." He gave her the logbook to let her check out. "Sir, what's acetaminophen?" Kite asked. "It's a pill that relieves fever," she answered Kite while signing beside her name. "Say, Sir Grigori, do you have any idea what class Arren belongs to?" "Who's Arren?" Kite asked. Lyl just ignored him. "I'm afraid I do not, my lady." "Alright. Thank you!" she skipped her way out. "Strange," Kite's eyebrows met. "Who's this Arren, sir?" "Hmm, why do you ask?" "I'm merely curious." Sir Grigori went back to the shelf and checked something on his clipboard. "Why are you curious?" Sir Grigori asked again. Kite scratched his head. "Do I need a reason to be curious?" "Something must have aroused your curiosity. Is it because Lady Lilac asked of him?" Sir Grigori smirked. "As I said, I am merely curious. So who's Arren?" "My answer comes with a price, young man," there goes the greedy doctor again. "Oh, c'mon! Do they not pay you handsomely for your job?" "They do. But that's only because I use that money to buy and create medicinal potions. Now, now. Fret not, I'm not gonna ask for money." Sir Grigori took his notepad and listed some materials. He tore the sheet and gave it to Kite. "What is this?" Kite read the list. "You go collect them for me." "Why would I do that? I don't even really need your answer," he gave the list back but Sir Grigori didn't take it. "But you need your brother's medicine, yes? Now go. You can ask Miss Berry and Professor Wendy where and how to get them. You can find some of those in the greenhouse, but you are not authorized so take Jarom with you," Sir Grigori sat on his office chair and put his feet on his desk. "Tch." Kite had no choice because he needs meds for his brother. He furiously left the infirmary. He didn't think he'll spend the first day of his second year running errands!
