Chapter six - He is back

Vince's POV:

Everything between Emma and me is perfect. That is the problem. I didn't tell her, but I'm afraid this won't last long. I don't know why I have a weird feeling. I have felt like that for the past week. Up to now, nothing bad has happened to us. Maybe I am imagining things. We have an ordinary life. I mean, we go to work, come back home, and chill. I like this, and I prefer it to be this way. We decided to stop the treats for a while. Let's say that if we have done this every day, I would have been bored. I want us to do something fun, but I don't know what. Emma and I haven't heard from our high school friends since we graduated. Everyone went to university, and we lost contact. Maybe one day we can meet again. Lately, we work a lot, and the only free time we have is during the weekend. We use it to rest and go shopping. Mostly for food. I am trying to help Emma as much as possible. It's not like she is letting me. I don't know why she wants to do everything alone. I thought she wanted to prove something, but I have no idea what. She is perfect, and I have told her this many times. I don't know what else I have to do to make her understand this. Well, maybe it would be better if I leave her to do what she wants. After all, I don't want to argue with her. If she is struggling, I will help her. I don't know what I did to deserve a girl like her, but I am happy. Emma is amazing.

It's Saturday, which means we don't have to go to work. Finally, we can have some time for ourselves. It's not a lie that sometimes Emma brings her work home. I am trying to distract her, but if she has something in her head, it's better if you leave her alone. She won't give up. This girl is stubborn. Well, up to now, I have never had a problem with that. We understand each other perfectly. There are a few things that my girl loves to do. That is why I let her do what she wants. Luckily, I am one of them.

I woke up and looked at Emma. She was still sleeping. Why can't we lay like that every day? This is the only thing that I want to do with her. I started playing with her hair and saw a smile on her face. I wonder what she is dreaming about. To be honest, I would love it if it was about me. Soon, she came closer and snuggled. Then you ask me why I don't want to get up. I have a piece of gold in my hands. This girl is the only reason why I am alive.

- Good morning.

- To you too. Why are you looking at me like that?

- Because you sleep cute.

- Oh, thanks.

- What do you want us to do today? We can eat breakfast outside.

- Why not? Later we can go for a walk or something.

- Don't forget about shopping.

- I won't. We can do this in the afternoon.

- In that case, I think that we have a plan.

Emma and I went to get ready. She is always cooking, so it's good if someone cooks instead of her. I have tried to make breakfast, but it's better if I never step into a kitchen again. Once I almost burned the house. We went to a small restaurant. Emma ordered waffles and me eggs with bacon. Soon, our food came, and we started eating.

- This is delicious. - Emma said

- I'm glad that you like it.

- I will never be able to do it so well.

- Because you will do it ten times better.

- You wish. I am not that good cook.

- I will disagree.

- If you say so.

I finished with my food and went to the bathroom. There was only one person there. I guess that not everyone can have breakfast outside of their house. Maybe it's because of the time. It's almost 10 am. I walked out of the cabin and froze at my place. That is impossible. I can't believe it.

- Won't you greet me?

- What are you doing here, and how did you find us?

- It wasn't that hard.

- Ricky, leave us alone.

- Why? I like playing games with you two.

- But we don't. Instead of wasting time with us, you can grow up. We are not teenagers anymore. Things have changed. I don't know about you, but Emma and I don't want to mess with you.

- I can stop bothering you, but on one condition.

- If you break up with Emma, I won't do anything to you or her.

- I'm sorry, but I can't do that.

- It's your choice. I tried to be nice.

- Why don't you leave her alone? She didn't do anything to you.

Ricky didn't say anything and walked away. My nightmare came true. Now we have to be careful. I have no idea what he plans to do, but it won't be anything good. For now, it's better if I don't tell Emma. First, I will talk with her dad.

- Hey, you are back. What took you so long?

- It's better if you don't know. - I said, chuckling

- Why?

- If you want, I can tell you what I did there, but we are at the table.

- I'm good, thanks.

- I thought that we could go for coffee with your parents. I mean to make them a small visit. Of course, we'll invite mine too.

- Ok, no problem. We haven't seen our parents soon.

I paid for the breakfast, and both with Emma walked out. I held her hand until we walked to her house. It's not a lie that I got scared. I can't let anything bad happen to her. Emma knocked on the door, and her mom opened it. She was surprised to see us there. Miss Sander greeted us and let us in.

- I'm happy to see you here.

- We came for a coffee. I hope that you won't mind. - Emma said

- Of course not. Come and sit.

Soon, mister Sander came. He greeted us as well and sat down. We talked for a while, and then he told me he had to talk with me. Thank god. I didn't know what excuse to make.

- I'm listening to you.

- I saw that you were worried. Do you have to tell me something?

- Yes, I do. It's not something good.

- What is it?

- Ricky is back in town.

- What?

- Emma and I went for breakfast in a small restaurant. When I went to the bathroom, he was there. I have no idea how he found us.

- This is not good.

- Ricky said he wouldn't bother us if I had broken up with Emma. I told him that I wouldn't do it. Look, I'm afraid that he will do something to her. You have to help me. I don't know what to do.

- Does she know?

- No, I didn't tell her.

- Ok, for now, it's better if we don't tell her. I don't want her to worry about anything.

- What if she meets him by herself?

- Don't let her go anywhere alone.

- It's easy, but since I know her, she will start asking questions.

Mister Sander and I walked back to the kitchen. Emma was talking with her mom. Luckily, none of them asked us anything. We stayed with them for lunch. My parents came as well. Later, we went shopping. Our food is not much, and we have to buy more. I saw a worker ordering the cans. He turned around and smirked. You have to be kidding me. How the heck did he find us? Emma and I took what we needed and walked home. I won't be surprised if he knows where we live.

- Vince, are you ok?

- Yes, why?

- I don't know. You look worried.

- Because I am.

- Why?

- The weekend almost ended. Can't we take a break?

- I'm sorry, but someone has to work.

- Fine. I want to help you with dinner today.

- Ok, you can choose what we'll cook.

- How about a homemade pizza? We always order it but have never tried to make one.

- No problem.

Making the pizza took us about two hours. Mostly because we have to let the dough stay in the refrigerator for an hour. We put some tomato sauce, mushrooms, cheese, pickles, pepperoni, and whatever we found in the fridge. I have to say that it looked good when we put it in the oven. I hope that it will taste the same as it looks.

- We can watch something in the living room.

- You can pick a movie.

- You let me do a lot of things today.

- Well, you said that I don't let you do anything. Now you have the chance.

- Thank you. What type of movie do you want to watch?

- Whatever you choose.

I chose a movie and Emma came with plates. The pizza smells so good. I can't wait to eat it all. It's not like I can. Moreover, it's hot. I took a bite of my piece and felt the pleasure. I don't know if I am hungry, but it's delicious.

- To understand that you like it.

- No, I love it. We did a good job.

- If you say so.

- I think that we should cook together more often.

- As long as you don't burn anything, I'm ok with that. - she said, chuckling

- I can't promise, but I will try.

- It's still something.

- Thank you for the treat tonight.

- I didn't give you one.

- No, you did. I already ate it.

- I was thinking about something else.

- Well, if you want, I can give you one.

- Thanks, but I'm good.

- Say when you want it, and I'll make sure you have it.

- No problem. - Emma said and looked at her stomach

- Is there a problem?

- I think that I ate too much.

- Not only you. In my defense, the food was delicious. I think that we don't have to order pizza anymore.

- Because we can do it by ourselves.

- Exactly. You are the best cook that I know.

- Let's say that I believe you.

- I'm saying the truth. I can't cook, and it's visible. Without you, I would be starving.

- In that case, it's good that I am here.

- No, it's perfect. I don't know what I was going to do without you.

- Live your life. - she said, chuckling

- But it wouldn't be the same. - I said and kissed her

The rest of the night, Emma and I spent at home. I am still worried about Ricky, but I will try not to show it in front of her. I will do what mister Sander said. Emma can't be alone. Before, I had no problem with that, but things have changed. I don't know what Ricky wants, but I won't let him hurt her again. I still don't understand why he is doing all of this. Maybe it's better if I don't know. All I can do is be with my girlfriend. She might get tired of me, but this is the only way I can protect her. I hope that Ricky won't do anything to her. Otherwise, he has to deal with me. I love Emma, and I will keep her safe.
