Chapter three - Living like a family

Emma's POV:

It has been a week since Vince and I moved into our new house. It was weird not being in my room. The good thing is that now my boyfriend doesn't need to sneak anymore. I know that he loved doing it. With the new house, other things are coming as well. Vince wants something from me, but to be honest, I don't feel ready for this. It's a big responsibility. I don't know if I can do it. Well, our parents will help us. I can't leave them to do our job. We have enough time for that. For now, I want to focus on my job. It's good that Vince and I are working the same. We are interior designers. People buy empty houses or apartments, and we make a furniture plan. All we do is place the furniture in different places. We make different versions. The owners will decide which one they want. It's a well-paid job, and we have a lot of free time. I mean that all our weekends are free. We work from 9 am to 5 pm. I think that one kid won't be a problem, but I need time to adjust to the idea. I don't have siblings and have never taken care of anyone. Luckily, we have good parents who will help us. I didn't know what I was going to do without them. Mom and I didn't understand each other well, but now everything is good. I'm glad that she opened her eyes and saw the truth. I hope that I will never see Ricky again. He did enough damage. Finally, I am happy, and I want to keep it that way. Moreover, I don't want something bad to happen to Vince.

I woke up next to my cute sleeping boyfriend. I won't lie that this is like heaven. Waking up to your loved one is not something that everyone can have. I might not be rich, but I have something better than money. It's a boy who loves me. It doesn't matter how much money you have. If you are alone, this can't help you. I never thought that the boy who stole my first kiss would be the one, but I am happy with him. He is nice to me and loves me for infinity. Well, I love him too.

I started playing with his hair and felt that he moved. Someone is waking up. I didn't say anything and only kissed his cheek. Vince is adorable when he is in a sleepy mood. I guess he didn't like my kiss because he gave me a real one. I thought that it would be a kiss. It looks like my boy has other plans. It's not like I mind. I like it when we play games. Also, we don't do this every day. With a kid, we'll barely have time for ourselves. That's why I don't want to rush.

- Someone is happy.

- Well, you are here. How can't I be?

- Don't forget that you wanted a kid.

- And I still do.

- If you want it, things like that can't happen in front of the baby.

- It won't sleep with us.

- Vince, babies sleep in the same room as their parents. At least six months.

- What?

- It's true. You can't leave a newborn baby alone. What if something happens?

- Like what?

- For example, it starts crying, or it's hungry.

- I think that we can wait.

- I have no problem with that, but I want to spend some time with you. Later, we can have one or more babies.

- To be honest, I never thought of that.

- If you want, we can quickly make your wish come true.

- No, no. I'm good. Thanks. - he said, and I chuckled

We laid for a while and later went for breakfast. Soon, we have to go to work. I liked having free time, but someone needs to earn money. We use the car to go to work. Otherwise, we have to walk for one hour. I don't mind it, but if it's after work. Sometimes we go home in the car and then go for a walk.

At 9 am, we were in our office. We asked the boss if we could work in the same office. Luckily, she had no problem with that. Back then, we were a little bit obsessed with each other. Now, we are good. Vince and I are not the only ones who do this kind of job. We have to help three families. One of them has three kids. I guess that their old house is smaller. They want to buy a new one before their baby grows up. In their place, I would do the same. They have already bought the house. Sometimes we make visits. Today is one of these days.

- Today we have to visit Cherry and Adam's new house. - I said

- When we'll go?

- I was thinking about the afternoon. There are some things which I have to finish here. Later, we can go for lunch.

- Your plans are the best.

- If this was true, but it's not.

- Yes, it is.

Vince and I finish the third plan for Sam and Mason's apartment. It's in the center of the town, and the building is new. It got built like five years ago. Usually, we make a couple of plans for one house or apartment. We want our clients to have a choice. Sometimes they have better ideas. After all, we only make suggestions. The final decision is theirs.

I have to say that Vince planned to study something different. Then he thought that this was not for him and joined my classes. Of course, since he had missed some, he had to take exams. I helped him with that. He was struggling at the beginning, but later, he got used to this.

- I'm getting hungry. - Vince said

- It's only 11:30.

- I am a man. I need food.

- Since when?

- What?

- Since when are you a man?

- Hey! Don't make me throw something at you.

- You won't do it.

- Watch me.

- Ok, let's go for lunch. I will tell Kim.

Kim James is our boss. I have to say that for a woman, she knows how to do business. She runs the whole company and is very successful. I walked to her office and waited for her to finish with the phone call.

- How can I help you?

- Vince and I are going for lunch. Then we have to visit Cherry and Adam's house.

- Should I expect a new plan today?

- It will be more like a sketch. The official plan will be made soon. Also, we need to make at least one more. I want the customers to have options.

- Ok, when you are ready, you can bring me the plan.

- Sure, no problem. I will go now.

- Bye and have a nice lunch.

- Thanks. To you too.

Both with Vince went to the nearest restaurant. The house is about an hour of driving from the office. I was not that hungry, so I ordered fried potatoes with cheese on top and a bottle of water. Vince got meatballs with white sauce and mushrooms. It looked good. The waiter asked us for desserts, but I didn't have any more space. Moreover, it's not healthy to eat a lot at once. It's better if you eat less, but more often.

- I will go and pay. Then we'll go to see that house.

- Great.

During the whole ride, we were making plans for the house. I am a little bit obsessed with backyards. That is why when we go to visit a house, the first thing I check is the backyard. With three kids, they need a big backyard. Soon, we arrived. Vince opened the door, and we walked in. The owners always give us a pair of keys. Of course, when we finish, we give them back. None of us needs them. We have our own house.

- It's big. - I said

- Yes, and it has a lot of rooms.

- I suggest you connect the kitchen and the living room. We can make an island.

- Won't this take too much space? After all, kids need space to play when it's not sunny outside.

- Yes, they do. Every woman deserves a big kitchen.

- Don't forget that they have a budget.

- Vince, they don't need to buy everything right now.

- Ok, we can put a sofa and in front of it a TV. It can have a couple of drawers under it.

- You mean like a stand.

- Yes.

- It's not bad. Also, I was thinking about paintings or pictures on the walls.

- Let's not put too many things.

- I'll go and check the backyard.

- Why I'm not surprised. - he said, chuckling

The backyard was big. Since Cherry and Adam have kids, a pool is a must. Also, they will need a place to play. One treehouse would be good, especially with the big tree, which is growing here. I would suggest Cherry a small garden full of flowers. I will look so pretty. Another idea that I got was to put chairs and a small coffee table. There are so many options. If I could, I would design every backyard in the whole town.

- Did you get an idea?

- More than one.

- Here, write them down.

- Thank you.

- I was thinking about the kids' rooms.

- What are your ideas?

- The boys can share a room. The walls can be blue, even different shades. The same is for the girl's room.

- Yes, that is not bad. What else do you have?

- They need a bed. It can be one big or two small beds. Also, a desk with two chairs. Maybe two desks. I don't know if there are big desks. I can add bean bags, but I don't know if they will like them.

- Why not? They are comfortable.

- For the girl's room, I was thinking the same. Maybe a big bed would be better. For the boys too.

- I like that.

After an hour, we were ready. Vince and I walked back to our office and showed Kim what we had so far. Luckily, she liked everything. I called Cherry and told her that we had a plan. After two days, we'll meet them. Technically, they will come here. Later, we'll go to their house. Tomorrow we can think of another plan. As I have said, I like our customers to have options.

Vince and I finished our work for the day and walked home. I have to make dinner, but I'm tired. Maybe we can order something. I know it's a temporary solution, but right now, I don't want to cook.

- Can we order food?

- I already did that. It was a tiring day for you.

- Thank you. It looks like someone will get a treat tonight.

- I won't lie that I am happy to hear that.

- Well, you deserve it. Thank you for the help today.

- You don't have to thank me. That is my job.

- I'm happy that we work together.

- Me too. It's fun. I can play games with you whenever I want.

- You won't do anything in the office. Understood?

- Fine. I will try to behave.

- Good.

- If that is possible.

- Vince!

- Ok, don't get mad.

- Then don't make me. I'll go and set the table.

- Can we eat in the living room? We don't need plates. The food will come in boxes.

- As much as I don't want to do it, I don't have the energy for anything.

- Thank you, beautiful.

- This is only for today. Tomorrow I will cook something.

The rest of the night, Vince and I spent at home. We ate in the living room and watched a movie. Around 11 pm, we went to bed. I was tired. Vince might get his treat in the morning. When I was little, I thought working wouldn't be that hard. Well, I was wrong. No matter what job you have, you need to work hard if you want to achieve something. The good thing is that we don't have many clients. At least not at once. The most important thing is that Vince is with me. With him, everything looks easy. I'm happy that I met him that day. He is the perfect boyfriend. I love you, Vince.
