Chapter One
Sasha was brokenhearted when she found out that Aiden’s ex-girlfriend was five months pregnant.
He had assured her that he did not love Gabriella, but she feared now that she carried his child, his feelings for her would change.
All these months she had been gone, studying abroad in France. She left him because she didn’t see their relationship going anywhere, and he did not share her love of travel.
She never mentioned in all this time that she was pregnant. Now, upon the eve of his marriage, she shows up and tells him that she is five months pregnant with his child.
She did indeed look five months pregnant, and they were still sexually active until their breakup, but Aiden still had doubts if the child was his.
Aiden still wanted to marry Sasha, but considering this new development, she wanted to postpone the wedding.
Sasha held her wedding gown in her lap, sobbing when her mother entered the room. Barbara hugged her daughter, comforting her.
“I thought we had a perfect relationship. I loved him and he loved me. Everything was so good between us; but then Gabriella comes back into the picture, with a baby,” Sasha explained.
“He says it won’t make a difference in our relationship, but how can he know that? How can he be sure he won’t fall for her again when they share a child together?” Sasha reasoned.
“Besides, his mother never did approve of me, anyway. She has brought up Gabriella’s name every chance she had. I am sure she’s bragging already about her grandchild to all her high society friends,” Sasha said in frustration.
Sasha’s phone rang again. It was Aiden for the umpteenth time this evening. He kept pleading for her to go through with the wedding in his voicemail messages.
“Sweetheart, answer him. You two need to talk about this. Love can conquer a lot of obstacles. This girl has been gone for five months. If he loved her, he would have gone after her. And if she loved him, she would have let him know about the baby sooner…if it even is his child. Don’t sacrifice your happiness for her,” Barbara rationalized.
Sasha sighed deeply and answered the call.
“Sasha, sweetheart, don’t do this to us. I love you, I swear I have no feelings for Gabriella at all. Please, my angel, please, marry me tomorrow just like we planned,” Aiden pleaded.
“If the baby ends up to be mine, we will parent him together. We will give her what she needs to care for the baby and herself, but it will be okay, I make plenty for us to live on as an engineer,” he assured her.
Sasha thought about his words and decided to trust in Aiden and his love for her. She agreed to go through with the wedding.
Gabriella, at her father’s home, took off the fake pregnancy belly. It was a relief after wearing it all day and sweating from the heat of it.
She had it all planned out, as soon as she persuaded Aiden to break up with his fiancée and marry her, she would pretend to fall and lose the “baby.”
It had not been difficult to convince Zandra, Aiden’s mother of her pregnancy, assuring her that the baby could only be his.
Zandra was ecstatic about having a grandson to carry on the Lawson name and bloodline. The Lawson fortune was within her grasp.
Gabriella laughed to herself at the fact that Aiden’s little fiancée had canceled the wedding. Everything was falling into place perfectly, she decided, throwing herself back on the bed gleefully.
