Another House
"YOU'RE THE REASON SHE IS DEAD!" My adoptive father screamed in my face, while I stood there  shaking with fear. "YOU ARE NOT MY DAUGHTER!" He screamed some more. "She didn't even love you..." He said a little calmer, raising a hand with a kitchen knife. I jerked up from my sleep with a deafening scream. Those words echoed in my head, over and over again. The door slammed open causing me to scream as four figures rushed to my side turning the lights on. Breathing heavily, I cowered into the corner of the room that I was currently staying in.    "Alexa, what happened?" The woman calmly asked, walking slowly toward me. I tried backing up some more, but was already against the wall,  "Stay away!" I screamed making her stumble back a step. The woman crouched down on her knees right in front of me. "It's alright honey, we're not going to hurt you. We just want to help you, give you a home." I chuckled humorlessly, and stood up slowly. "You are not my home, I don't have a home, and I never will. I don't want to be here. I am forced to be here." I said calmly walking back to the bed.  "Alexa-" The man tried to say, but I cut him off.      "I'm tired, I want to go back to sleep." I said hinting at them to go away, but they all just stood there. "You know, since I have to start a new school again, tomorrow?" They all stood there for another moment before nodding their heads and leaving the room. I lyed back down, trying to fall back to sleep. After my adoptive father stabbed me, the neighbor barged into the house, hearing my screams, and pried him off of me. After that, he called the cops, and soon after I was better my social worker came and I was put back into the system.       I was in five other homes, before my social worker decided to try Florida. Something about there being more people or something like that. And now here I am in the second home in Florida. The homes back in Boston didn't work out because well, they were either physically or verbally abusive, or both. And the first home in Florida didn't work out because I was... r***d. He was the foster brothers best friend, and he was, 19. He didn't go to jail or anything because he said that I pursued him. As if. How did I end up in the system in the first place? My birth parents, my brother and I were in an accident on the way to my dance competition. My brother and I survived but, mom and dad died instantly. My brother and I stayed together for a while, but were separated when a family wanted to foster him and not me. I tried to find him, but mu social worker wouldn't tell me anything and I didn't have access to files.     Having that thought in mind, I cried myself to sleep. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------     The next morning, I woke at 6:30 thanks to a very persistent alarm clock. I dragged myself out of the bed, and walked out of the room and down the stairs into the kitchen where everyone was already making plates with pancakes and bacon and fruits to put on the pancakes. All eyes turned to me when I entered the kitchen. I ignored them and sat down at the place they set for me last night.      "Do you want some OJ?" My new foster brother Adam asked me, I shook my head and he poured me some. I mumbled a thank you before taking a sip. Everyone was still looking at me, my eyes met with the woman from last night and she offered a smile, and placed  plate of pancakes and bacon in front of me. "Moms pancakes are the best!" Adam exclaimed to which his mother smirked.   "Yeah, she put some seasoned stuff things in it that make them yummy." The little girl said excitedly. She is only 6 and was so adorable when she said it and reminded me of my brother I couldn't help but smile. "Alexa, can I sit on your lap?" She then asked making my smile fade. She reminded me too much of my brother, my brother used to ask to sit on my lap when he was four and I was 10. I quickly stood up.  "I can't, I have to get to school, sorry." I said trying to leave the house as quick as possible. But my plan soon failed when the woman came after me. "Honey, wait up." The woman asked before I could leave the house. "Look sweetie, your social worker said that she didn't want you to walk to school on your own, and Adam has a car. You will drive to school with him." Great. Just great!
