A Dragons Tail

They all seemed to understand and Natsu went behind a bush to do his business before he climbed onto me. Icicle got on right away and so did Spyre. Kira sat there and glared at me though and I bent down to be more her height. “Kira climb up, we have got to go.” I whispered in a begging sort of tone. “We will find the others, I promise.”

“Momma I am not leaving without them, we can take down a couple of humans if we must can't we?”

“You remember how great Kazuki is with his bow yes? And how badly it can injure one of you four? Well there could be hundreds or thousands of archers just like him right past those trees. They could be getting ready to slay us as we speak. I don't want any of you to get hurt. And archers aren't the worst things out here. Swordsmen and all sorts of weapons or creatures could be waiting to attack us.”

She finally nodded her head at me and climbed up. "I suppose. But we need to make sure we find them." I started to walk the opposite direction from the cave. 

"Did anyone see which way they flew when they left?" I look around as I walk but I don't see anyone. 

"No momma." They all chirp back. 

"Well, they said they were going to a nearby forest. Do you think you could fly up quick and look around for a nearby forest?" Icicle asked.

"I could but you'd all have to get down again and I don't know if that would help. Who knows how many forested areas could be out here. Flying might also not be a good idea anyway if we know there are humans around. We will have to be extra careful from here out." 

She nodded her head in response and they all poked their heads up high, trying to see if they could find the others. 

After about an hour of walking and searching we finally find another forest to check. "Anyone see anything?" 

"Whats that over there momma? I see a tail poking out from behind those trees. Do you think thats one of them? Do you think daddy is there?" Kira says being hopeful. 

"Maybe, lets go see." I say as I look at the tail and can tell its Spike. I walk over there and see Spike laying down with Kazuki. "Hey guys, we've been looking for you for a long time. Why did you leave without telling me where you were going?"

Spike jumps a little, startled. "Oh hey. We went in search of food. We didnt really find anything yet. Ali went off on her own so we don't know what she got. We were going to meet back up by where you guys were. Why did you leave? Now we might not be able to find Ali for a while unless we go back to where you just were."

"We can't go back there. Even to find Ali, the little ones wont let us go back either now that they know there are humans there. They found a nearby cave full of them."

"Oh really, whats so bad about us." Kaz argues. "Ya know, if you guys stay together I can go in there and poke my head around. I can see whats going on and report back. It might just be a family or two living in there."

"Yes but it could also be dwarves or any number of other things. As I told the hatchlings its safer to just leave the area. We dont know what they are up to or what they might be planning."

"I guess, but they might be like me as well. The type of person who avoids other humans, or whatever they are. For all we know they could love dragons." He says this with a huge smirk. 

"If youd like to go in there and investigate thats up to you. The rest of us will wait back where we were I guess. If there is any threat let us know immediately and we will all leave the area and look for Ali." He nods and we start heading back to the same place we all just were. All this chasing around is annoying.

We finally get back to where we just were and I lay down to let the small ones loose. "Go ahead and walk around a little but don't go too far. As soon as Kaz is back we need to decide if we are staying or going." 

They all nod in understanding and run around together. I stay laying down and watch Kaz go towards the cave. "Be careful and let one of us know if you need a little fire." He chuckles a little and continues on his way towards the cave. Soon he disappears and I watch the cave without blinking. I need to pay close attention. "Spike stay here and watch the small ones. I'm going to meander over there and poke my head into the cave a little to see if I can see or hear anything that might be going on. 

"Yes Blaze. I'll keep an eye on them." I turn and walk after Kaz, who is already who knows how far into the cave. 

Once I get over there I poke my head around to the inside of the cave and look around. It seems to be kinda deep because I can't see anything but darkness after a little ways into it. I wonder how Kazuki managed to find his way around in the dark. I'm sure he will figure it out though. I just hope its humans and not dwarves, giants, elves, orcs, or anything else that could cause mass destruction.
