Spike and I flew quickly but Auron was falling behind so we slowed down a bit hoping he wouldn’t figure out what we were doing. He didn't seem to notice and he just kept flying towards us in rage. Once we got close we landed and he dove towards Spike and tried to attack his face but Spike moved at the right time. Auron was sent down a hill leading into the lake. King dragons have a hard time swimming, because their armor is so heavy it makes them sink and they have a lower lung capacity. We both jumped on top of him and held him underwater to try to drown him but he was putting up a fight.
Off to the side I heard another dragon screaming at us. I glanced over at her quick and she looked pissed. I wrapped my tail tight around Auron’s neck underwater to choke him but he bit my tail and the water started to turn red. Spike was infuriated and started biting at Auron’s eyes and face to blind him. Auron kept getting his head above water just long enough to get enough air before he went back under again. I ripped up his wings until I knew he wouldn't be able to fly and I then jumped off of him.
“Spike lets go, he’s not worth the energy.”
“No! I’m gonna kill him!” He ripped another chunk from his neck and they started to go underwater more as Auron got more tired and couldn’t keep his head above water. “He’s almost dead.” Spike smiled in triumph and he kept going.
“Spike just stop, he’ll die eventually from the wounds anyway.” I pulled him off Auron’s back and we watched him climb slowly out of the water. He fell over right away and he was panting and dripping blood from everywhere. My tail wrapped around Spikes’ and I walked away pulling him with. The dragonelle was still watching but silently now as we walked towards her. She seemed a little worried so I tried to make it look like I wasn’t going to hurt her. As I got closer she spread her wings like she was going to fly away but I grabbed her tail and held her back.
“I just have a question for you,” I let go slowly to make sure she wasn’t just going to fly off. “I’m Blaze and that’s Spike. Why were you yelling at us when we were taking care of Auron?”
“I’m Ali and...” She sighed and looked away, “He’s my… Brother… he's good at getting in trouble. He goes after every girl he sees and lots of mad boyfriends go after him. I’ve tried to help him but I can’t. It hurt watching you do that to him, he was screaming telepathically for me to help but I couldn’t. He deserves it…”
“I’m sorry you had such an awful brother. So wait… He’s a King dragon…. And you’re his sister…. So doesn’t that make you a King dragon too? Where are your chest plates?” I stared at her scales wondering why she didn’t have any. Her green scales were very bright and vibrant. Mine weren’t nearly as shiny and bold as hers. I thought about eating more gold coins and gems when I go back to my cave. Hopefully that would make mine at least closer to hers.
“Not all King dragonelles have them, some do and some don’t. I’m glad I don’t cause I can fly faster than my other brother and my sister. Extra stomach protection isn’t really needed for me. I feel like they would get in the way like they did for my brother, especially since dragons don’t usually try to fight dragonelles.”
“That makes sense I guess.” I was still awkwardly looking at her scales. My faded blue scales would never look as great as her bright green ones. I looked away and saw three more dragons flying this way. “Who are they? Spike do you know them?” He looked up from the rock he was tossing around with his tail and looked to where I was pointing.
“Let's go find out.” He spread his wings and was about to take off but Ali smacked him across the face with her tail and hissed at him. He growled at her and looked like he was going to take her tail off.
“You crazy? They’ll kill you and then come after us. I know them and they are the meanest dragons I’ve met. When I was just a small hatchling they tried killing me so they could have a snack but my dad was with me. He got hurt pretty badly but my mother healed him afterwards. The only reason he didn't kill those three was because he was hoping they'd learn a lesson and wouldn't have to be killed. He didn't fight back at all, just kept taking hits and stood between them and me. He died a few years ago. I went back to my old cave a while back and my mother was sick, she got something that put out her fire and she couldn't fight well, my dad died after getting really bad wounds in a fight trying to protect her. She said it had something to do with Dragon riders.” She looked at them again, “A girl with long black hair and a man with golden hair, they were riding Kasaka and Emi and had sharp weapons. They tried getting to my mom to kill her but my dad killed them both. If you don't know this already it's extremely hard to heal yourself, no matter how good you are at healing. My dad wasn't able to heal himself and my mom wasn't strong enough to heal in her current state. She's fine now but she still has a hard time with her flame. Kasaka and Emi were their parents. Those three aren't much older than me, they hatched a few years earlier but they think they're so great and powerful.” She growled a bit and pulled him back over by me. “Stay here, don't go to your death.”
“I’ll be fine, trust me. I go around killing the dragons that are like that, they don’t deserve to live in my eyes. What happened to the humans? Were they killed too?”
“I believe so, my father wouldn’t have let them live but they may have family that are like them. Stay here. Please. I don't want to see you guys get hurt because I have past problems with them.” Spike pushed her away a bit and instantly took off in a rage.
As he got higher and closer she started to scream at him. “You’re going to die! The golden one is strong enough to heal himself and his brother and the silver can do all sorts of things, I've seen it! Come on Blaze lets go help him. I can heal too so we should be fine. What's your element or power?”
I turned and looked at her and she saw the look of worry in my eyes. “I don’t know… I’ve never had one, usually you get it when you’re older or when you get really mad, it comes out and you learn to control it. That’s never happened to me.” We both flew after him as fast as we could, he slowed a bit so we could catch up.
“What are you guys doing? You say I’m crazy? Look at yourselves. You’re going to end up dead, I can handle them.”
“No Spike we are going to help, maybe I can learn my power. Ali can heal us if we need it, let’s go.” I flew ahead and then the three giant beasts saw us following them. I growled and smoke started coming out of my nose, if I was this mad already maybe I really could learn my power. The dragons looked at me and Ali then looked at Spike. They started flying towards us while smiling.
“And what do we have here? Gorgeous.” The silver dragon put his hand by Ali’s cheek and she bit it.
“I’d keep your distance if I was you.” He looked as if he didn’t care. Then he came by me and tried to lick me but Spike growled and dove on top of him.
“Watch what you’re doing to my girl or you might just lose your head. I don’t put up with that shit.” Spike had his mouth right by the silvers neck, ready to bite.
“Do you know who I am little dragon? I’ve killed so many others like you. Pesky lizards really. By the way I’m Typhon. Ty works too though if that’s easier for you.” He hissed at Spike and pushed his face away from his neck then he winked at me.
“Ty eh? Well not for much longer. Who’s your brother over there?” Spike nodded in his direction. “The gold. He got a name?”
“Yes, that’s my little brother. He um… How do I put this…? He’s not the smartest. His name is Haku and he’s got a bad habit of getting in my way. I hate him at times cause he’s a little pest.” He dove to the ground and landed then started walking away. His brother came over by us then and stared at me just like his brother did.
“What's up sexy?” He smiled at me and blew smoke at Spike. That really set him off.
“You guys need to learn to back off.” He growled even deeper than the last time and snorted smoke back at him. He flew to the ground by Typhon and sat waiting for us.
“Come on Ali.”
We both landed next to Spike and then Haku landed too. He and Ty were both checking me out and they both tried licking me at the same time. They got really mad at each other. Ty lept at Haku biting his neck and clawing at his back. Haku fell over bleeding and growled at his brother.
While they were fighting Spike started attacking Typhon’s wings and tail. Ty smacked him hard across the face with his tail and it made him bleed a bit. They were all growling at each other and Spike blew fire at Haku. Haku tried getting away so he could heal himself but I jumped on his back and ripped a chunk out of him. He tried throwing me off but I dug my claws into him and clung tight.
I got hit in the back of the head by Ty’s tail and I fell off. Everything was spinning for a bit but as I stood up I felt stronger and I exploded with fury. Purple smoke went everywhere and I spit a gob of purplish-black goo on Typhon. It bubbled against his scales and it looked like it was some type of acid that was burning him. I realized my power was poison. I spit some at Haku when he opened his mouth to spit fire at Spike. It went in his mouth and exploded when he spit flame. His face was covered in blood as he fell over, the poison bubbling and oozing from his scarred and shredded face. There's no debating it, he was dead. Spike and I had completely forgotten about the silver and we kept attacking Typhon, little did I know that she hovered in the sky watching with rage.
The bit of poison that hit Typhon was almost gone but you could tell where it was originally because it ate away the scales in that area. Bare flesh was left underneath. He looked at his dead brother then glared at me.
“You killed him!” Smoke went everywhere and he growled at me. He jumped at me but Spike bit his leg and pulled him away. Typhon bit Spikes neck and he let go and collapsed. Fire and smoke went everywhere and I couldn't see anything. As it cleared I saw Typhon lying there unmoving. I could tell he was still breathing so I spit poison in his eyes and face. I looked at Spike and he nodded at me. We both got up and walked over by Ali. She still stood there staring blankly at both brothers’ dead bodies. I touched her with my tail.
“Come on Ali, let’s go.” I opened my wings and tried to fly but I couldn’t. “Spike can you fly?” I tried again but I was too tired.
He tried and he flew for a bit but he got tired right away too and landed. “Barely. My wings are so heavy. We should stay here and rest for a while.” He laid down and I did too. I again looked at Ali and she looked frozen. When she laid down she looked over at me and started freaking out. “Are you guys okay? I’m sorry I didn’t help. I couldn’t move I swear! I wanted to but my body wouldn’t budge. Are they really dead?”
“Calm down Ali. Yes they are really dead, well Haku is for sure, I think Typhon is but I'm too tired to fight him anymore. He should die soon enough from the poison and wounds. And it’s alright. We did just fine without you.” I closed my eyes and laid there for a bit and before I knew it I was asleep.
------------------------------------
I woke to what sounded like a soft humming but when I opened my eyes I saw a small silver dragon staring at me. She was growling and looked ready to bite at me. I yawned and stood. “How may I help you young silver?”
She smacked me across the face with her tail and Spike woke up. “Ow! You ass what was that for? Who are you? Brat.” I realized it was the silver from before, I had forgotten her and didn’t understand why she waited so long and didn't kill us in our sleep.
She looked at Spike as he stood and towered over her even more than I did and she looked worried. “I would be the little sister of those two bodies over there!” She blew a cloud of smoke in my face and I growled.
“You do know that they are trouble makers that were trying to steal me from Spike and were trying to get with Ali too plus they were trying to kill us right?” As we were going back and forth Ali woke up and walked closer to us.
“Whats going on? Who’s the silver?”
“I don’t know her name but I already don’t like her. She’s standing up for her corpses over there.” I growled again and Ali pulled me away a bit.
“s**t! Blaze that’s their little sister….! She has more than one power. She can heal herself and use fire blasts at the same time and if she really wanted to she could make herself bigger. When she gets bigger she gets stronger. The only weakness is she’s slower, not like that makes a difference. Bigger body bigger flame and more difficult to attack. Let’s go before she decides to pick a fight”
“Ali are you running away? Spike and I don't run. We have to fight, we are just a little injured from the last one.”
“A little? Blaze are you kidding? You almost died.”
“Yeah, but we didn't. We stayed and fought and won.”
“Blaze…” She sighed and looked at the silver then back at me. “Fine. I’ll fight this time. You’ll need the extra help.” She turned back to the silver and growled. “They tried killing us so we ended them. I didn’t even get a scratch when fighting them it was so easy.” She smiled and touched her nose to my forehead then to Spikes. We felt better as we watched our open wounds turn to scars that looked like they’ve been there a while.
I growled at the silver. “What’s your name young one?”
She growled back and she got a little bigger. “My name is Skye. By the way, I’m older than my brothers that you killed, I just like to stay small to use less energy. And I’ll be happy to crush you.” She smiled and kept growing. As she grew her voice got deeper and I laughed at such a manly voice coming from a dragonelle like that. She glared at me and blew a giant fireball towards me and I lept out of the way. Ali dove behind Spike and we all started to worry about what would happen next.
