CHAPTER 20Madison buzzed Bannister from the hotel’s lobby. The valet drove his rental car, top down, to the front of the hotel. Bannister and Madison jumped in and took off. The last time he was with a blonde in a convertible was ten months ago when he took Robin for a spin through his neighborhood in the Mercedes Gullwing. Bannister hadn’t yet figured out how he was going to tell Robin he had a daughter. “I know right now it might seem a little strange to both of us, but you don’t mind if I call you ‘Dad’ do you?” Madison asked. “No, I don’t mind and yes, it’s strange hearing it,” is all he could think to say. “I mean, I know people call you Ty, or Mr. Bannister, or Special Agent Bannister. Right? Now somebody—me—gets to call you something that no one else can—Dad. Pretty neat!” Madiso
