Rock music played loudly as I opened my eyes to the bright sunlight cascading through the large window next to the bed, alerting me to the time of day and the fact that I had yet to receive the report for the recognizance assignment I had given my beta last night. No doubt lost in the bosom of whatever random wasted, she wolves crawled into his bed the night before. Grabbing the dirty black T-shirt from the day before and a pair of ripped jeans, I began to get dressed in no time to waste, if there was a threat to the pack as the rumors had suggested, then communicating with me should take precedence. I needed to locate him and chew his ass for not touching base with me the previous night. I swear if he was any other wolf, I would have had him flogged for the incompetence and insolence he constantly displayed. Storming from the room, I walked towards the end of the hall where, if I were a gambling wolf, I would put money that I found the irresponsible best friend I had placed as my second. Moments like this made me question if this was the right choice. Upon my entry to the commons, I could not help but notice it got incredibly quiet, conversation ceased, and all eyes turned to me as they often did. Today seemed different, not having the time to ponder it now, I continued my pursuit down the hall to Bryce’s room. Knocking once, with no response infuriated me more, I am the Alpha and should not have to work this hard for orders to be upheld repeatedly. Moans could be heard through the door as I pounded on the door a couple more times, louder than before. Running my hands through my inevitably messy black hair trying to contain the rage festering inside me as it continued to build with every passing moment, which often took a large amount of control. Moments passed and I could hear stirring. The door opened and showed a smiling beta as his eyes met mine, laughing Bryce put his hand on my shoulder before speaking, “Morning brother, sleep well?” Staring back at him and fighting my wolf's initial instinct to lose my s**t, I simply replied with an order. “Command center five minutes.” My Eyes left no room for argument, piercing blue with an intensity that only he could recognize. Walking away I took a breath and tried again to rein in the emotion that begged to break free. Bryce had known me since I was a child, my parents found him passed out in the woods of our territory and had taken him in as their own and had always been my brother, best friend, and confidant. He was my second in command and he had followed me into plenty of battles as my right hand. Looking past him into the room I could see the latest she wolf to fall victim to his charms and good looks, her hair disheveled and holding the blanket up to her neck in a final effort to contain her modesty. Found in the wolf tavern down the road undoubtedly. Shaggy brown hair drapes over his emerald, green eyes ever so slightly. Chiseled and enough muscle to take down the best of most men with ease. Bryce attracted wolves as honey attracted bees and easily had his choice of bedside companions on any given day. Bryce was an amazing friend, and I would trust him with my life without a second thought, even if he tested my patience on a regular basis. Although he did not carry an alpha status amongst a pack, he carried himself with the confidence and stamina of an Alpha and could intimidate the strongest of their soldiers. Bowing only to one, his brother and Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack.
