I could hear muffled voices, there was a very bright light. Was I dead? Was this heaven? I quickly realized that was unlikely with the amount of pain I felt just breathing. Where was I then? Memories flood to my brain as I remember my father chasing me, being exhausted and terrified and succumbing to sleep at the most inconvenient time. I remembered my father’s wolf attacking me and then everything went dark. I feel it getting harder to breathe, Gasping and attempting to get oxygen I start seeing spots. I can hear a man’s voice, it’s the sexiest and at the same time terrifying I had heard. I couldn’t make out what he was saying, only that it was to a very feminine sounding woman and another deep-toned man.
What seemed like hours past as I drifted off to sleep, unable to keep my eyes open. When they opened, I saw a man sitting in the corner of what looked like a makeshift hospital room. Reading something the man was lost in his own world impervious to the fact that I had woken up. Shifting my body to get more comfortable, I winced as a shooting pain went up my side. This caught the man’s attention. Quickly standing the man looked at me with what must have been the greenest eyes I had ever seen. Trying to talk I opened my mouth; no words escape as I rasp and realize I can’t talk. The man seemed irritated at my lack of ability to respond to him as he talked and asked the question a second time. “Who are you, and why were you in our territory rouge?” Lacking a response the man growled and left the room, glaring as he left.
Disbelief clear on my face, I watched him leave the room. What is his problem? Did they not understand? I don’t want to be here anymore than they obviously don’t want me here. Why go through all the trouble of saving my life if they didn’t want me here? So many questions flood my head, making my head throb. Time to calculate injuries. Someone wrapped gauze bandages tightly around my side. Touching it brought pain as I shook away the memories that got me here. I felt my arms and my neck, sore but not broken.
The worst of the pain seemed to radiate from my ribs, especially when I tried to breathe. Just Like a band-aid I gasp sitting up, hoping leaping into it fearlessly would somehow make it hurt less. I was wrong, so very wrong. Tears fell from my eyes as I bit my lip and began to remove the adhesive tape attaching the IV to my inner arm. Wincing I remove the needle from my arm and hold the blanket to the spot to dab the blood before slowly swinging my legs off the side of the DIY hospital bed. My feet touch the floor and it feels like ice and my entire body shakes with goosebumps. I don’t have the pleasure of taking things slow, I am in a unknown location with people that most likely have no intention of letting me leave. I needed to find my way out of here and I needed to do it fast.
Carefully and quietly, I slipped from the hospital room and peered down the hall. Seeing no one I race down the hall and slam into a huge wall of muscled tattooed man. I felt the growl radiate through his body as he lifts me up bridal style and walks towards the hospital room and I see my escape route disappearing quickly. Using the little energy, I have I squirm and kick my feet to no avail. Desperately I bite the arm holding me as hard as I can. Shockingly the man doesn’t drop me or even look like it hurt. The man looks down at me with piercing blue eyes, almost as if he could see into my soul. “You’re testing my patience rouge” The man said in a voice that audibly showed the hatred he had for me. The man set me down on the bed and cuffed me to the headboard.
“Your lucky your already wounded, we may not hurt women unnecessarily but keep testing my patience and you just may find out how we keep the she-wolves in line in my pack. Don’t try to escape again, it won’t end well for you.” The man stormed out slamming the door as he went.
